I got this tuner with my car and have yet to play with it. (dont even know how to be honest with you) The prior owner said it has a tune done on it, but im curious to how aggressive it is. So, is this tuner any good? Any tips? The car has a full Kook's system-headers back. Strage though, still has the stock paper element filter.

No, not the one. Picked up a black 300b last week. Any help on this tuner, Zack? :help:

There's really not much reason to mess with it until you further modify the car. Keep it, though and have one of our fine tuners help you when you do make new mods.

im curious if the car was tuned before or after the headers/exhaust. There is a local speed shop that is pretty proficient with the 4.6, I may have them dyno the car then play with the tune to see if they could squeek more hp out of it.

Careful now. it's not just the 4.6. Make sure they understand the extra loads placed on our motors due to our weight.

Its the SCT Xcal, it was replaced by the Xcal2, if the car has a tune on it then theres no need to tamper. Only thing better than an out of the box tune is a dyno tune, and you should be able to save it on the xcal.

Ive heard many times that most tuners dont understand how to compensate for our weight? can anyone please go in to further detail?

I'm trying to follow here but I'm running into ambiguities. You said "it" has a tune in it. What's the "it" the tuner or the car?

Second, you seem to be in contact with the previous owner, did he reflash the car back to stock or left the aftermarket tune in the ECU when he sold the car?

As previously posted it's an SCT XCal-1, which can hold up to three tunes.
I'm not 100% sure, but these tuners were not sold "blank" they have somebody's tune in them, either one, two or three variants.

Third, be aware that your performance shop/dyno facility may not be able to overwrite the orginal tune because of proprietary concerns. Not all tuner people do this but some do.

See if you can find out whose tune is in box and if it can be overwritten.
