It also has kind of let back (see my other thread about the headlight problem)

:D

If you can believe it, the highbeam is actually on in this pic with the halogen on the drivers side...The difference is NIGHT AND DAY!

Not trying to open up what can be a very contentious issue--but does that kit use HID bulbs/ballast in the stock housings, or does it actually replace the reflectors as well?

Its plug and play. The bulbs mount into the lens like your stock ones and then you just plug the OEM plug into the ballast and run the wires to the bulb. The hardest part is figuring out where and how to mount the ballasts.

Terribly hard... ;)

I didn't have any problem mounted them, just made sure they were an open area for air to flow through and cool them and where they wouldn't get soaked.

I was looking at these pictures and just didn't see this big bug anywhere.

I have one car with factory HID and the other has regular QI. I do a lot of long distance driving at night and I've used both cars in doing so. Matter of fact, I just returned to Florida from a trip out to Phoenix with the QI car. Last June, I went near Buffalo with the HID car and am doing it again next week.

IMHO, HID is no big deal. When you look at the bulbs, they may "look" more white, but that does not mean that you see better than when using the QI bulbs.

Years ago, before Europe unified, cars in France only used Yellow bulbs. Yes, YELLOW. Could always tell a car registered in France. When Europe unified, they made the laws such that all those countries had to have the same rules, so France converted to white QI lamps. When I used to drive with the Yellow QI lamps, at first, it seemed strange, but I got used to it, and it did not cause me to see more difficult at night than the American bulbs. Matter of fact, when the weather was not perfect, I could see better with the Yellow QI bulbs. (thats why "fog lamps" are yellow). Having worked in the photo industry, Eastman Kodak, I learned that the human eye is much less sensitive to blue (HID has a tint of blue) and yellow is the opposite of blue. Yellow filters out the blue light. (This is why they sell yellow "night glasses" and why photographers use "yellow filters" on their lenses for daytime sky shots, and why "Blue Blocker" sunglasses, which are yellow/orange, do such a good job of making you see better).

Yes, I have an HID car, but only because it was on it when I bought it. I would not special order a car with it. I'd rather spend the extra money on other accessories.

IMHO
