Lets see, car has 33,xxx on it. Got me a nice SCT tuner, JLT intake, full Kook's treatment from headers back.....and coming Thursday...4.10's! :woohoo: That should wake this ***** up from a dig. Any advise on break in? Oh, and another thing, the speedo will be corrected...Does that include the odometer too? I'd hate to rack up miles on the car that really aren't there. It's gonna get dynoed afterwards, hoping for 290rwhp or so. Wish me luck!

Good luck! It's the tune that will make the use of all the other mods you have added.

Suggest you try the method I used:

Start up car, allow to warm up. Punch off O/D button, if your MM is an '03 300B, or an '04 with T/C, switch off T/C.
Drive to the nearest intersection with a stop sign or stop light. If stop light, allow light to turn red before proceeding with step 3.
When intersection is clear and/or light turns green, mash the accelerator to the floor. Hold in that position until at least 1-2 shift, and preferably 2-3 shift.:drive:
Enjoy feeling what a MM should feel like. Repeat as necessary.:burn:A MM is like a race horse, they like to run hard, so have at it!

I've heard if they're new gears, there is a break in procedure. When I had gears put in my old car, I drove it for 10 miles. Let the car cool down a bit. Started it back up and drove 20 miles. Let it cool down, and then I went nuts with it. Worked good for me. Also, I notice you're in NE, where do you plan on getting this thing dyno tuned?.....I hope you're not going to a Joe Schmo "oh it's a 'Stang engine I can figure it out" type place. If so, I wish you the best of luck.

I'm actually getting some gears that will not require a break in. Or so I've been told. I will let you all know after they're installed. These gears have been through a process called "rim polishing". Yes, it sounds kinky, but it's supposed to eliminate any need for break in and increase the strength by 20%.

Kind of like, what's that process called I think you can have done, cryo treated?

Where are you getting the gears done?

I did several hundred miles with only a few hard hits on the go pedal.
40 K on them currently.
No noise, what so ever!
Do yourself a favor, complete a few temp cycles prior to ^^ cheeseheads' advice. :D
Do overs are expensive! :stupid: Not you Rex!

Yep, heat cycle a few times.

On the noise note....

I have FRPP 4.10's. Notoriously noisy. Mine weren't really. At least not that I ever noticed. I had dino gear oil and friction modifier put in when they were new. 20K on the gears, and I installed a girdle/cover. Refilled it with 4 qts of REDLINE. HOLY CRAP is it quiet back there. what an amazing difference. I HIGHLY recommend the REDLINE dif oil. I don't recall the weight. It came in the mustang power pack. No friction modifier needed. It's already in there.

Yeah, I gotta agree on the heat cycles. I think frdwrnch took care of this for me before I picked up the car (I left it up there for a week), so by the time I got in it, it was good to go.

Can't agree more on getting a qualified mech to do the install. No noise, no problems with mine either.

The guy that does my axle rebuilds runs them in on the lift for a short while right after assembly, then a 15 mile drive. He has always told me to take it easy for the first 500 miles, change the fluid, then have at it. FWIW
