This was an Acura at one time. 24-year-old local kid killed instantly in a 100 mph impact headon driver side to driver side into another vehicle.

I left the image large so you can see the violence and destruction.

Same here. I wanted a new 1970 Charger R/T. My father refused to insure it on his policy.

Damn good thing he did I suppose. I was only 17 at the time and most certainly would have killed myself in it. :D

My first car was a 58 VW bug with 36 HP. Didn't get my first muscle car (67 GTO) until I got out of hte Marine Corp in 1972. Then became a cop where I learned from seeing numerous fatalities that speed does kill.
People do not realize that they drive a deadly weapon every day. Kids today do not have a clue.

And lasting 30 years as a Deputy Sheriff, you unquestionalbly earn the right to show a badge my friend. I could only last 14 years as a State Trooper and 6 as a reserve.

I think every driver, especially those in the more expensive insurance bracket of 24 and under, should take an advanced driving course like I just did. Hands-on is the best way to go. Drivers need to make the connection between speed and being able to handle the car when a reaction is needed in an instant. That "what if" needs to be firmly implanted in everyone's brain. It will make the difference between life and death.

We had a beauty in Chicago last night. someone was driving west bound in the east bound lanes of the Eisenhower Expy. Headon and both cars errupted into flames immediately. All dead in the accident. http://abclocal.go.com/wls/story?section=local&id=5731301

Just horrible, I would have never thought a head on between a bmw and a volvo would result in them bursting into flames.

The other driver was in a new Chrysler Pacifica. Both arms broken, both legs broken, and a head unjury. But he is expected to survive after a long recovery.

He was from Florida and visiting friends in Virginia.
