LOL marauders in this area were way too much for what I wanted so I went a difrent route. Modded subie LGT and best feature is I shouldn't get stuck in the snow anymore.

Subarus are great when driving in the snow but they do not turn, unless your power turn, better or stop any better than fwd or rwd. It is decpetive they are eally really good for starting out on slippery roads, but that leads to over confidence and bad descisions. Just remember ice and snow are not to be ignored or taken lightly.
The Legacy GT does turn nice but not as good as the Marauder when stock. Beware of the cheap doors and the frameless windows. Don't slam the door with the window rolled part way down. The ground cleareance disappears when you get in, so don't go cross country driving. That is what the Outback & Forester is for.
Drving in wet weather is awesome in a Legacy. They hold the road and drive very well.
Just remember that Subaru manual transmissions will break if punished, clutch dropped etc... and the Automatics while better do not have Highstall Torque Converters and can only handle 265WHP.
If you want to know more talk to Joe Spitz cars101(dot)com.

Yeah I don't plan on going hog wild in the snow(sounds verry tempting tho). Just tired of getting trapped at work for 6-8 more hours when it was time to go home. Even with snow tires and stock tune the mm did not like snow verry much. My TDC Stage 2 tune also includes Economy Mode. It basicly makes the car stock mm fast except on launch. AWD Gets you moving fast but not slow you down. Yes black ice is or ice in general is bad for any kind of car.
As for rain it did really good last week when we had standing water on parts fo the freeway. felt each tire lose and regain grip.
I have auto, manual was too hard to find for target price range due to extremely low mileage.
I didn't have issues with slaming doors with windows down, just F^%$tards using the frameless window to close the door.
As for clearance I am happy where it was. Even on stock height of the mm I sc*****. Va is not the place to have a lowered car. Friend with same car lowered heers his exhaust scrape on every other speed bump regardless of speed or angle.
The mod list is
Engine
GFB Hybrid BOV (50/50)
Perrin TMIC
STi uppipe
Stromung Downpipe
COBB heat shield
APv1 TDC Stage 1 and 2 with TMIC map
Hayden Transmission cooler
AVO Boost Actuator (In Mail Still)
Xo2 Mufflers (In mail Still)
Blitz Intake Grill (In Mail Still)
Suspention
Cobb Sway Bars front and rear
Hawk HPS brake pads
Misc
35% tint
Modified front mesh grille

You might want to add a High Stall Torque Converter to that.
Then it can really move, if you do it right.
I've driven a LGT back in 05/06 and just about every other Subaru too. Those that i can actually fit into.
Don't forget to use winter tires.

Is there a stall you would reccomend on a dd? also it ran 13.8 @ 100mph the other day. Will try and get winter tires but still waiting on insurance money from the totaled marauder.
1 more pict. Me vs the mazdaspeed 6 in the pic.

Was looking at one in 05 when they came out. But they cost too much then new. I ended up getting the mm like 4 days later and brought it back up from texas. Love it still cause most people assume another 4 door import. Sti and evo are too small and attract way too much attetion. Only people downshift on me are mazdaspeed 6ers. I also didn't want to buy a car and start from ground zero again. I ended up getting it in stage 2 and I either deleted some parts or added to it. 13.8 is with a half of tank and me not brake tq'ing it. Because the mm was purchased in texas after it was totaled I couldn't aford another same year one with similar miles.
Few more pics

My friend has, well had two Subies, currently has an '00 Legacy that he's doing an entire build on, will kick some major a$$ when it's done. Stromug stuff is pricey too, I should know since he told me how much he paid for a muffler for his car. I take that back, a lot of import stuff is pricey for those things. He just bought an '07 Mini Cooper S (it's fast!) and there's really only 3 or 4 performance parts for it for now. A downpipe (the '07+ are turbo now instead of s/c) for this thing is $600 bucks!

My wife is driving a Subaru. If find it good for her as she is not compassionate about driving.
It is right that a 300+ HP Impreza is MUCH more efficient than any RWD car in "Rally" conditions. But the RWD stays more predictable and more funny to drive, even in the same conditions.
Your car is a very nice one. But not challenging nor funny enough. And the maintenance costs are incredibly high.

I agree the legacy doesn't have that marauder feel that I still miss but I got what I wanted. Never stranded in the snow and faster than what I already had. As for rwd, my bias puts me in more of a rwd situation when traction is lost. The only thing difrent is the fronts trying to pull you back into the skid if you aren't aware of the cars mecahnics. Oh yeah thats no bs about expensive parts. The paint on the door aparently cost more than the door it's self. Found this out when the neighbors tried to take a shortcut thru my car.
Figured I would send a few more pics of my last days in DMV area. Sorry if I wasn't able to see everyone. The location is a dead give away.
