View Full Version : Insurance Companies May Be On To Us???
MM2004

Long story, but my current Ins. Co. pizzed me off and I began calling around today comparing apples to apples (exact coverage) in hopes of leaving my Ins. Co. for better rates.
WRONG!
The quotes given to me today by companies A and B we more than double what I am paying now!
Company B admitted not hearing of a Marauder, but could not figure out why the MM was in a very high group rate??
The rate of the MM was in the same 'category' as a Cobra Mustang! WTF?
I am 44 years old, been with the same Ins. Co. for 12 years or better. I have every imaginable discount they offer, and am in the preferred group rate as my driving record is pristine.
The quotes I received today from companies A and B were between $600.00 and $671.00 every 6 months! In their preferred group as well.
Currently I am paying $306.00 every 6 months.
These rates are for full coverage.
Guess I'll stay pizzed off at them. And will not create too much stink as they could possibly 'adjust' the current MM rate.
I most likely will purchase a daily driver car tomorrow, and my Ins. Co. is raping me on an 8 year old car. Something about writing a new policy, and will not get the rates on this car as I do the MM because of the policy discounts over the past many years.
Hard pill to swallow that I will pay more to insure a '99 Taurus than what I am paying for a '04 MM. :shake:
Not by much; but still more.
Mike.

Not sure if it's still there but Marauders were very high on the "most stolen" list for awhile.

Most of the time you give them your vin number. 03 Marauders have nothing in the vin to make it a different model than a Grand Marquis. 04s however do.

In New Jersey I am paying $1,000. per year, $50.00 cheaper than when I lived in Pa. a year ago. The day I called my Insurance to get covered they KNEW it was Marauder! I remember this because the girl could not pronounce it correctly
Had Liberty Mutual---38 years!!!!
Now New Jersey Manufactures

That sounds weird. If I buy a second car and insure it with my Automobile club, I get a 25% discount on all my car insurance's. If I add my House insurance I get another discount of 25% to 35% off of that as well.
I used to live in a small town outside the city, and still have the mail box there, my car insurance goes through that mail box address and I get a 10% to 15% discount over the city rates.
My Subaru 04 Legacy L sedan, had insurance that was 40% more than my Marauder.
If your insurance gets to high, raise the deductable and the price will come down.

You're lucky you pay those prices. Even the $600 quote is great in my eyes.
When I was in NYC, I was paying $950 every 6 months. Moving to Philly only saved me like $20 every 6 months.
I've gotten so used to paying $1800+ a year that anything less will be great!!!

I could have sworn I remember reading about how the Vin is the same as a Grand Marquis but the engine code is different so it is listed as a Grand Marquis with a different engine package. However the 04 Marauders Vin is distinctly Different than the Grand Marquis.

I dropped State Farm after 10 years and paying $225 a month for the Marauder and our 02 Explorer. I went with Geico, first month was $220, next 2 months was $175, and next month it will drop to $150. We are both 26 with only a comp. claim from 2005.

Hi Everyone,
Lot of factors determine auto premiums: vehicle type and location, driver age and history...
When I told my agent I was considering shopping around for lower premiums
without losing any coverages, she said they want to keep me as a client and suggested a 'credit based policy'.
If you have a good credit rating, use it to lower your auto and homeowner premiums! They may have to issue a new policy, but your saving $$$.
Hope this works for you.

:confused:My 04's got in on the Grand Marquis/Marauder listing and they did not list them as performance cars.
State Farm here in NW Louisiana charges me $98.20 per month for my MM.
That's with multicar discount, no accidents or tickets, plus all my other policies are also with them.

When I lived in England. My 86 Mustang GT "Cobra" which I had over there, I ended up paying just liability theft and fire, that was $2000 a year. Comprehensive was $7000 a year. I was 23-24 and accident and ticket free.
When I came back after 5 years I found out I should have kept my policy going in Canada even though I wasn;t here. $25 a year would have saved me $$$$. Cancel your policy and they bump you right back up to being a new policy owner with no history. Overseas insurance doesn't count.
I knew a 18 yearold in England, he wanted to get a Cosworth but he had a couple tickets and the insurance company quoted him $35,000 a year. Car not included. He didn't have a car for years.

It made #3 (04 model) in 2005 in the top 10 most stolen cars...
Based on # stolen per 100,000 produced. Since slightly more then 11,000 were produced, 1 stolen = 10 per 100,000.
I think there were 4 stolen that year or something silly that you can count on both hands.

Just don't go with Nationwide. With them 30 years, no claims till my 94 F150 was totaled. After talking with them for over 3 months. I got $2300 and had to pay $700 to keep the truck. The accident wasn't my fault, the other insurance company reembersed Nationwide $3700. I canceled all policies, now with ALFA.
Nationwide is on your backside

For the helluvit, I called Progressive today and was quoted $660.00+ for six months coverage.
That's 3 for 3 on the $600.00 range for 6 month premiums.
The '99 Taurus I just bought this morning is $283.14 for six months, which pizzes me off to no end.
Nonetheless, I am staying where I am at!

for 2003 the body style code in the VIN is the same as a Grand Marquis LS. It's the engine code that makes it a Marauder.
For 2004 the Marauder received the body style code it should have had from the start.

I moved from a 2001 crown vic LX to an 03 Marauder and the insurance with State Farm increased about 9 bucks a month. I think my advanced chronological age may have had something to do with it. You know us old farts don't drive very fast. ;)

I currently pay $480/6 mos. for the Marauder, age 27, 4 insurance points on the license (2 tickets for < 10 over). Before it went up due to the tickets, which also cost me my "safe driver" credit, I was paying $300/6 mos. Not bad at all, considering. I do get a discount, albeit small, because I have both my auto and my renters' insurance with the same company. This is with Nationwide btw.
When I was in the process of buying the car last year, I called about getting the insurance transferred, and the quote they gave me was for less per month than my previous '96 Mark VIII. At that point I actually went out of my way to make sure they knew exactly what a Marauder was and that it was classified as such, since if I ever had an accident I didn't want them to try to reimburse me based on book value for a GM...
