I both had the best time I've had at a Marauder event and had my best time ever in the 1320 all at SSHS7!
As most know, the #31 has only been in for about 6 weeks. I hadn't had a chance to race it with the SC at all.
Friday's test/tune at SSHS7 revealed what all had said. Not enough tires. I spun through the 60 and spun through 2nd on runs. On one run, the car got about 45 degrees sideways, I got out of it and then eased in again to a 14.1. Garbage for an SC, but I came thru the traps at 105! It's makes plenty power!
Unfortunately, my friend John Nero broke his tranny on the way up. After seeing my miserable traction Friday night, he insisted I use his slicks. So here I am, 1st time on slicks, still scared to death of the power, having gone sideways the previous night, and freaking because of all the 'wobbly' stories about slicks!
1st run was getting used to the wobbly. 12.8
2nd run was learning to burnout. 12.9
3rd run I lost my mind at the last minute and after backing into the water box, I attempted to burn out in REVERSE (funny, I thought R was for RACE!). Well, it must have worked. I ran 12.64 at 107.8. At that trap speed and with some practice, the car has a 12.2 in her.
Later, John ran the car to a 13.1 at 106.
All in all, I'm VERY pleased with the power as told by the trap speed. Thanx, John for twisting my arm to use those slicks. I think you were right. My day would have sucked without them.
I learned MASSIVE AMOUNTS at SSHS7!
Time Slip:
RT .189
60 1.958
330 5.338
1/8 8.115 @ 89.58
1000 10.566
1/4 12.642 @ 107.8
