i have a 1993 mercurry grand marquis that has been diagnosed with the "it costs more to fix it than what i paid for it".
the shop said, #6 and #8 fuel injectors were leaking. fouled all 8 plugs. both o2 sensors are out of range, and both catalytic converters are bad. the driver side one is at 100% blockage.
they estimated it at around $1700.
with the parts and the time i could do it. but i lack both.
parts would go around $400
ive been in texas for training for the past 3 months. i just want to go home. and now i have the worst decision to make. i have to leave my car down here. all by itself. i have to fly back to NY. and then all my stuff must be shipped. ( digital piano, computer, screen, xbox360, etc.) this sucks ass.
the car has a custom CAI, throttle body spacer, ford 9mm wires, msd coils and a optima battery. it also has a perfectly good transmission in the trunk with torque converter.
it cost me $211 to have the guy diagnose it (which took about 6 hours) and put new plugs in it. he said he'd give me my money back if i gave him the car with the title.
i know this jerkhole is gonna turn around and sell it for $3000 easy.
so, if anyone wants it, any parts, let me know. i dont want this fool to get it.
thank you.

Ryan,
Don't let go of the MGM I have 60k Kms on my MGM but it has a few problems beacause I let 'er sit for 5 years. Total repair bill is $5100, It's currently in a repair shop awaiting to be fixed.

But if your serious on selling it I'm interested in the center caps....(Any pictures?)

Ryan,
Just a suggestion, I'd get a SECOND opinion before I parted with my car.
If you ask on here, someone in TX can recommend a reputable shop for that 2nd opinion. FWIW.
Good luck.

Ryan man that sucks. Def talk to some of the TX guys and see if they can help guide you to someone else that can look at it.

$1300 in labour seems a lot to fix those problems. Perhaps fix enough of the problems so that it runs and then limp back home where you can get it fixed by someone you know and trust. Good luck.

I agree! replace the plugs and leave it at that. Take it from the shop, get a really big screw driver and gut out the convertor and bring it home. Don't leave it for that dude! It's worth more than that.
