first off i want to thank this community for all the good info posted on here:bows:.....anyway i cut my frnt coil springs and lowered the rear ride heght slightly....everything went smooth and im very pleased with the ride and the look..first i measured ride height ...then cut ONE FULL COIL off and moved rear sensor to the driver side just about a 1/4 inch.....test drove 10 miles and re-measured ride height...
Before #'s.................. After#'s
LF-28 3/16's.............. LF-27 7/16's .........3/4 in. drop
RF-28 5/16's ..............RF-27 9/16's .........3/4 in. drop
LR-29 .......................LR-28 7/16's....... ..9/16 in. drop
RR-29 1/4..................RR-28 5/8's............5/8 in. drop
i re-measured twice since i couldnt believe i achieved a one inch rake in the rear on the first try....after driving it ten miles the ride was not harsh or bumpy but you could definitely tell the difference...i really like it and it cost me nothing:P....i will get it aligned monday because i also installed new front tires(stock BFG's) and i dont want to chew these up...thanks to all the members posts i found in the SEARCH function, very good info!!

I did this quite a while ago and I love it. Just did a 2,000 mi trip this weekend part of which was in Kentucky and Tennesee. The car handled great in the mountains with a lot less body roll than it used to have.

Exactly my thoughts:beer:
The car will ride better when you switch out the rear bump stops with the ones in the ricer aisle at Auto Zone.

:lol::lol: I think what hes trying to say is, cutting springs isnt the best way of going about lowering the car...especially when there are lowering springs out there for our cars

Any lift kit options for a Marauder?
I wouldn't mind having a selectrac 4wd and extra 4 inches of ground clearance.

I did not have to worry about the bump stops because I did not lower the rear. I like the stance it has and did not have a problem getting my alignment numbers where I wanted them.

What he's saying is that the back has less travel before it hits the factory stops. Many (including Zack) have modified the factory stop to a lower height, however, Energy Suspension has stops ready to go. We have come to refer to them as 'ricer stops'. ES#9.9101.
As for cut springs. Many (including myself) feel they are a BETTER choice than our only after market offering.

Second that on the rear snubbers - if you're lowering the back this also HAS to be done!

I have no experience with the Eibachs, am a big fan of the Naake set up but for sure they are expensive. I run on the road course and they are the nuts there and on the street. I do know a lot about the ricer stops as Rich set me up with them to solve my "riding on the bump stops" when I lowered the rear to the height I like. They solved the problem, serve the purpose without interfering with the ride. 2 Thumbs up. They are in the sig.:) Dennis... PS... the FruitPunch OEM springs are cut down 1 turn and proudly are on the front of the Defyant Marauder. Charlie loves them. I think they like the 11 second ride!

Okay maybe I took this the wrong way with the way it is worded. It just did not come across as a "helpful" tip.

Great thread. I'm going to have to have the car realigned in the spring, anyway (it's pulling to the right), so, I'm doing this at the same time. The price is right!!!
Also, didn't know about the stops. Super thread.

I actually have the Eibachs and I don't see anything wrong with them. I did NOT cut my springs first though so I have no direct comparison.
The one thing I DO notice is the back of the car seems to bounce more at the ride height I have it now. I'm assuming this is because of the low air pressure in the rear air springs.
I did have the sensor all the way to the left and it looked great but rode on the stops so I moved it to the right a bit to get rid of that problem. However, I'll be ordering stops next week and replacing them.

I cut my springs after having the car only 2 months and I loved the fact that it still felt fairly stock as far as ride quality but hugs the road on turns a lot better.

Looks real nice, too. How much did you lower the rear?
