What would happen If i got an offset that was too small, say.......35 offset?!

The outside surface of your tires will have about 15 mm less clearance to your wheel openings. Depending on what tires you are using, you may or may not rub. If your combination clears, it doesn't necessarily mean it will work on every other Marauder. Tolerance stackups in this area are fairly large. With this much offset decrease, your car won't track quite as well--minor disturbances in the road surface will have a longer moment arm to feed back through the steering.

All I know is that these panthers, new and old, all have weird offsets. The pre-03's always find rims with too much offset. The 03's have too much of an offset and sometime need custom rims.

Hmmm...what rim width will your new rims be? If these are 8" like the MM rims, you "MAY" be able to get away with the 35mm. If they are 9" or wider, you may have issues with the rims sticking out of the car.

I couldn't tell ya what the part number is. I got mine at a swap meet for less than 1/2 the price the dealer charges. But any Ford dealer should be able to order it for you. They cost about $25 for the pair. :D

Reaper948:
General rule of thumb, for the MM, stick with the same offset for aftermarket. Even though the rims you want are 0.5" wider than the stock MM rim, you can stick with the same offset maybe 5mm more.

Best thing to do, is get under than car and look at "ALL" your clearances with the normal load on the car, not jacked up. put the wheel straight, look at where a wider rim MAY rub inside and outside near the fender. Then turn the wheels and see the same clearances. For the rear, see how close stuff is. I did this many times for my car and the Roush rims I got fit very nicely. I've even have consulted other CV owners about tires sizes and rims sizes. :D

Being that the MM rims tires come very close to the fender lip on the outside, you're best bet is to have that extra 0.5" more on the inside on the rim.

Example:
MM rim uses roughly 6.1" rear spacing for an 8" wide rim. Best bet, get an 8.5" wide rim with 6.5" rear spacing and it should fit fine. (NOTE: I guessed at the MM rim rear spacing strictly as an example.)

With tolerances, clearances are tight inside and outside. Ever wonder why the upper arms droop in the middle? It's to give 16 inch wheels clearance in full turn/full rebound. That's not a situation you get into often, but it does happen.
