Production Italian Teskid Aluminum block good for (900 HP+) Etc...
I didn't know that they still produce the Italian Teskid block.
Otherwise, what else is in "used" condition?

Please forgive the newb but what exactly is the difference between a "short block" and a bottom end. Because the set-up that I want to have by this time 2yrs (payments over then) is STS turbo with a bottom end that will total about 8k when all said and done and if that "short block" is more than I am definatly intrested bc it is only about 1k more!

I'm not 100% certain....
"bottom end" might be referring to the crank, and associated bearings.
The "short block" is an engine assembly without the heads, intake, exhaust manifolds, and water pump.
A "long block" would include the items not found on the short block.

I am curious other than the weight savings of 100lbs what are the advantages over a Cobra short block?

Why is it that every freakin time Dennis tries to show us a deal it turns into some kind of freakin drama?!
My reply is: (and if not interested, yours should be)
Dennis, Thanx for the lookout on the short block. The guy who builds your transmissions (Fred) is awesome, so I'm sure your motor guy is too. I'm not in the market for a motor just now, but appreciate your research. Rich

There is always some one looking to make a less expensive mouse trap, Mike has been around for years here, and he is very meticulous, so if any needs a short block in reasonable amount of time this is good info, and that is why I posted it.

Not all of us here are racking in a lot of money so if a option for a engine is out there for $1200 cheaper, I would like to be made aware of it.
We are all aware that you need to make a buck, but maybe justifying the extra $1200 would make this sit better with more people.

I agree, I wish some of you would step in my shoes, all I wanted to do was offer up what I felt, and so have others was a good deal on a short block, with these specifications.

So what vendor do you know goes out and looks if he can under sell himself???.
I said I see no specific comparison between the two offers.
So here is what I did. I did send email to them asking for a quote using all this above info, so will see if they email back, and I will post up the information as a favor to the club. Yes 1200 is a lot of money but you get what you pay for in a engine. I also stated each order could be changed to your specifications, and that means it could cost less or it could cost more, no I am not making a 1200 profit.

When I first bought my Marauder there was very little available. Same for the 4V Mustang guys.
5.0 stuff was plentiful and cheap, so many options you did not know which to choose.
The number of sources for parts has increased 50 fold since I bought my MM and more becomes available every month. The different applications such as Mach 1 and Aviator have helped make this possible.
When the Intech was available only in the Mark VIII I am sure there was very little available sources for parts.
There is no surprise here.

I think a lot of guys would opt to be blown though in this scenario with price as a factor. It's quick, effective and if you want more power, a simple pulley change would let you do so, not to mention tuning. Let me ask you this though. Could someone that has a bone stock MM, purchase this block and spend less $$ than investing into an S/C and be up into the same power numbers N/A? I think I know the answer, but it can't hurt to ask.

I don't think so.....
How would you do that?
Raudermaster
11-28-2007, 06:56 PM
Exactly, that's what I'm saying. I think this block would only benefit guys who are already blown or have some sort of power adder. The reason I asked is I know with the older 5.0's you could do "bolt ons" and acheive 400hp and was wondering if you could, or if this block could adapt to any parts that would boost up the power.

This is not exactly true, if you have a N/A car and lost a motor, this could be a good replacement, but you would want to stay with 10/1 pistons and not lower the compression, as you would if you were running a high boost S/C. Again some of you are not following what took place, for the last time so its all clear, I never posted a 1200 dollar profit. I posted a price that a local builder here was doing these blocks for and what his price was and his exact specifications were for that price. Then some member here stated that MMR, offers a similar block for 1200 less, so then some one twists that to say I was making a 1200 profit by selling a MMR block, this just goes to show you how things can be taken out of context and twisted which is just plain wrong, if you have no interest in this fine, if you want the MMR block call them and order one.

I wasn't bashing anything Dennis just stating if someone needs a replacement block this would be good. I was just curious if this could have been an alternative to high hp numbers N/A rather going S/C.

Dennis, I did not read anywhere that anyone twisted anything to say you were making a $1200 profit. I posted that perhaps the enhancements at Orange Park might be worth an extra $1200 and that would be a discussion worth having. How much you are making is immaterial and of no interest...we were discussing comparitive values of the options. I don't know why you get so defensive when questions are asked. Dennis:dunno:

Perhaps it is because everytime Dennis has a group buy, the same twits jump in and jump on him.
The facts are there, the price is there, if you want one,,buy it. If you just want to derail the thread STFU Dennis has gone out of his way in the past to help the members with Group buys on various products and most of the time all he gets is grief,,,,but he continues to do it.

That is a good deal.
Thank you Tom, tomorrow I am going to talk to Mike Shultz and see what he can do for a regular aluminum block and give a good deal on short block, again it's all in how much you want to spend, what is your ultimate goal for the car, another option is the 04 Cobra long block for around 4500.00 PS this is complete with all the sheet metal. But there is a core charge.

Ok, Dennis, I am letting it go..what ever it is...and there was no need to threaten me in a PM or close the thread. My business was sales and for 41 years I and every business associate I knew viewed questions as sales opportunities. I guess I now understand that you view them differently. Good luck.
Mercman, I do not know you and I suspect that minions and twits and worse are some of your favorite people. I am sure that you are not the total jack ass that some of your posts make you appear. Dennis

You are entitled to your opinion I have mine, and you try calling any owner or moderator on any other site, such as, Stang.net, the Coral or Modular Depot. Crown Vic.net, MarkViii.org, try calling them a jack ass you are gone permanently, I asked Dennis three times to let this go, by PM again he came back and started his typical rhetoric, I feel sorry for him, there are those that like me and there are those that do not, but I wont be ganged banged, as some would like to try to do. Over the years I have tried to do the best I can, I am not perfect, very rarely do I ever post back in these matters, because I have learned no matter what, you can not win on the internet, those that do not like me will twist and distort any thing I say, or any one else that tries to support me, then your tagged with the name minion or cronies. All I wanted to do was offer up a good short block, and look what this thread deteriorated to.
