Cadillac has a neat option for that. It shows heat vision on anything 500 feet ahead of the car on a heads up screen.to bad we didn't get that kind of an option

I remember someone on this site talking about it in his MM. The htread discussed the legality.

I was in a line to get into a track for Mid Nite Madness. Bumper to Bumper. This guy in an SUV kept blaring his train horn. Every time he hit it I wanted to fixs it so it would never work again.

I called the track because the announcer over the radio was celling classes up. I convinced the track to postpone and set a separate line for racers. We found out a major accident resulted in the delay.

I too had them on one of my old cars in NC, and yes when you go by them they will look right at you. Which is a lot better than spooking them into running in front of you. I thought the reflection from the eyes were dog in a field until I realized the dogs had to be 3' to 5' off the ground. For what Deer Whistles cost and what they are supposed to protect against, the money spent is worth it, IMHO.

No one around here uses them anymore. At one time every one had a set. They just don't work. I've seen way too many deer damaged cars with whistlers on them to believe they do anything.

Just slow down during rut and pay attention.

I hit a deer a couple months after getting the Marauder.
I put two whistles behind the grill, on both of the Panthers we drive.
It does not appear to "startle" them, when I see one.

Our jeep has them, err one. One broke off. The deer dont respond differently at all. Deer horns work as well as the tornado.......

A few of us out here swear by them. My neighbor has always put two sets (4) on his cars and has never even come close to hitting a deer. He drives a ton in the Finger Lakes region and is 84 years old.

I installed a pair behind my grille and have only had one fawn in the raod trying like hell to get out of the road 80 feet in front of me.

This is definetly a job for Mythbusters....

Best thing to do is shut off the headlignts right away as they "freez" in the light, slow down in areas when you they are or signs are posted.

I'd mount a cow catcher on the front of your MM for dear season, that'll "get them outta the way"

I had a pair that worked when they first came out. Back in the 80's. I would be driving along and all the horse, cows whatever in the fields would all look up when I approached. All the time.

I don't know the brand or if the new ones work.

Deer will run into the side of your car...you can't always see them coming. I live in Kent County, Michigan. It is the #1 county for car-deer accidents in Michigan. I worked with a man that hit a deer every year he drove to work in his car. One year he "totaled out" 2 new cars.

I live in a metro area w/ large areas of woods. The develops have been hear for 10 years so the Deer are used to cars/people.

I'm convinced that they do work, up to a point. The road past our home bisects a large beading/feeding area with a considerable herd of animals. Knowing this, we drive cautiously and keep alert. I believe the deer "freeze" and look in the direction of the sound, thus giving an alert driver time to react to whatever decision the skittish critters decide to do, or not. I buy the chrome looking ones at WalMart and mount then as instructed on the package. They cost less than $10. There are always deer being hit on our road, at least one a week, and in 40years at this location, we've never had an incident.
Another added benefit is when asked what they are, I always say they're the purge nozzles from my fogger kit. :D

from the instructions it is imperative that you have each whistle angled properly to work, maybe that is an issue - sounds like it is a fine art to get them located for even air flow and pointed correctly to work in tandem to get the correct frequency.
