4700 Grand Marquis were sold in October 2007 and I think that is just wild. Ford sold 13,000 Fusions during the same period for comparison sake (with ads a plenty, NASCAR ect...) I really dont think its because of the fleet only Crown Vic because non-fleet Crown Vic numbers were barely on the chart anyway. I think Mercury is right to stick with the GM and hopefully Ford wil recognize this and just mordernize it over time and not dump it completely.

If Mercury was/is smart you think theyed offer more than two models of the GM? Like at aleast a "sport" GM ? They just don't know how to merchandise or package what they have. Why bother trying to appeal to the customers just sell them what we want to make. Ford thinks the public is clueless and will continue to buy uninteresting vehicles.

Ford should either completely do away with the Panther cars, man up and finally release the Interceptor, or at least take that technology, and re-do the Panther line up with the Interceptor's features.

I'd love to see that. Either the Interceptor or the current panther platform with the interceptor 400 hp engine.

If anything they should pop a V6 or small V8 hybrid engine in a Grand Marquis and offer a big car with great mileage. Fleet operations would love a Hybrid car.

Yeah Steve, I am in New Orleans now again. I did forget to mention it was the sales manager car and I bought it as a demo and had 3K on it. But the 5K+ I did put on it since Nov 3rd. With two trips to New Orleans and one to Birmingham, AL and Atlanta, GA round trip the miles add up quick from where I live deep in SW Florida.

Still would rather drive than fly and rent a car if I can. Heading to Chicago (brrrr) next week for four days, but I am flying there. Way too far a drive for 4 days of business.

You do realize it would probably consume more gas with two less cylinders right? Seeing that puney little 6 would have to push a lot.

Ford is staffed by a bunch of marketing morons. The upgrades many of you have suggested for the Grand Marquis are logical and require very, very little research and development The vehicle's development costs were paid for many long years ago.The V-8 engine from the Mustang and a 6 speed automatic transmission would do wonders for Mercury sales. I'd wager they would have potential customers lined up at the dealerships.

With numbers like this, We could have a V6 Hybrid Marauder.
