I'm driving to class this morning, and everytime I go over a bump, a loud ass squeak is coming from my front end. I narrowed it down to my shocks/springs because it only happens on the rebound. I don't think it could be balljoints because I had an ongoing problem in my '95 CV, and it would only squeak when I turned my wheel. I just find it odd it only happened this morning, and now it does it all the time now? What could be the problem here?

Im going with hood bumper. Have you replaced your sway bars recently?? The poly bushings may squeak if not greased or loose.

Springs don't squeak. So it's not that.

Hood.....

Lube the latch and back out a little on the stops.....they work themselves down in time!!:shake: I put lock nuts on mine!!

When it does it just pop the hood...if it stops that's it!! But don't pop the hood going 60!!:shake:

I had a 72 Tbird w/ rope for a hood latch, temporarily, pop the hood going about 35-40 mph, with a car coming the other way. 72 Tbird hood is about 10 feet long. It stood straight up, and the oncoming car frieked out and totally stopped. I got out, tied my hood back down, and drove off like nothing happened. The hood lined up a lot better after it flew open, then beforehand.

Could also be the rear bushing on the lower control arm. I have this problem with a 2004 CV. Started at about 30,000 miles. The noise comes and goes.

Tom, have you made sure that sucker is TIGHT? Like, big breaker bar w/ 6 pt socket tight? The torque specs for the control arm bolts are really high w/ the aluminum front ends.

If it's only doing it on rebound, do a jounce test. Push down and let it bounce on each corner, see if it squeaks and you can narrow it down

It's the hood squeek.

Try putting the fuzzy side of velcro on the hood bumpers and lube the latch, it worked for me.:)

Thanks guys, will check into it more tomorrow. I did recently do sway bars, maybe I'll toss some grease on the ends.

Did you lube the sway bar mounts?

I don't believe so. It does sound like it's coming from the bottom of the car. I'm going to bet it's the damn sway bar. I guess that's what I get when I don't use lube!:bigcry:

Oh yeah, if you used poly and did not grease it, that is 110% going to squeak. Only use poly-approved lube, some of the regular lubes will eat poly.

Dat's it!!!! Use this stuff:

Use about 1/2 a packet per bushing. It no squeeky no mo. And won't for a long time. Wipe off excess after a few miles.

Remember, this lube is not 'water soluble', so only use it on the sway bar!!! ;)
