:beer:I was bidding on that super-low milage Silver Marauder on ebay.. Item:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/03-MERCURY-MARAUDER-1-FLORIDA-OWNER-8K-MILES-L-K_W0QQitemZ370001232117QQihZ02 4QQcategoryZ6340QQssPageNameZW DVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

I called the dealer and we made a grand-slam of a deal, in my opinion. I don't want to tell you all what I paid until I actually have the car, but I believe it is a steal for car with less than 9,000 Miles!

I'm on the fence on whether to fly down and pick it up myself... The dealer tells me he does lots of business in Chicago (where I am located) and tells me he can ship it for less than $500.00. I'm sure I'd spend that on gas/hotel/flights/etc.

Anyway - I'm glad I nabbed the silver one.. Since I had a Black one with dark interior, I wanted a "different Marauder" - So I got the Silver with Light Flint.

Mods to be completed immediately: Spoiler, Delete Tips, Side Badges, Inserts, Super-Chips Tune! :)

Hey...I've got a superchips max-micro tuner for ya! How about $100 ?

Actually -- I saw that door as well, and asked for more pictures. That is just a bad photo and looks darker for some reason.

Regarding the Micro-Tuner --- As long as it isn't VIN-Locked, that sounds like a good deal to me!

Congrats on the purchase. There was a guy that came into my place of employment the other day when he saw my car. He was looking at that car on eBay as well, so it sounds like you beat him to it. I looked for 2 years to find my SB/LF car and I love the color combination.

I think your first mods should be a tuner and 4.10s, but then, I'm biased :)

I'd have to agree on the right rear door being painted, though. Both shots of the door show it to be darker.

I'am willing to bet, that the right rear door has been painted. From all the different angels it looks dark, in the paint world, this is called a "shadow cast", it's caused by 2 main reasons, either the entire door was "panel painted", and the color is simply off, or a spot on the door was painted then the entire door was cleared, the new clear can sometimes give this effect. Sometimes the more clear that is applied the darked a panel may appear. Light metallic colors are usually most sensitive to this as well.

drive it home, you wont be sorry. if you ship it, you will pace the floor and get stressed out, you will want to track your shipment, its just too much to bear...

drive it home...

Get an SCT, NOT a Superchips. As for the the color, Zack has it almost right, except put Black where Blue is.

Are there any Marauder.Net Members who live in Sarasota who might swing by Encore Motorcars? I would love to have a set of trained-eyes have a look at that door.

Brother,
They are a customer of mine. What do you want to know? I can go down next week and check it over in person if you wish. They (The service dept.) will give me the straight-up answers in the meantime. They typically deal in high-end cars and any reconditioning is done on-site. Unfortunately, I don't have any affiliation with the sales staff. Am I understanding this correctly, you already bought it? If so, best luck with your new ride!

JMan

If you'd like to discuss this via phone, PM me!

Yes -- Black Valve Covers, Vin Number, Oasis Report all confirm. Let's call it "Late 2003"

Hey guys: An update. It turns out the door WAS painted. I've learned a bit more about the car. It was owned by an elderly gentleman down in the Keys. He had a "garage boo boo" and put a six inch scratch in the door and the whole door was repainted by the Ford dealership. After learning this, Encore motors told me they would return my deposit, but assured me the re-paint is really really good and you can only tell at certain angles and lighting. I have decided to move forward with the purchase. The miles are sub 9,000, and the deal is really good. I've already talked to the local Ford dealership and they've already quoted me reasonable prices on both redoing the clear-coat and/or repainting the whole door.

I will post quality pictures when she arrives!

Interesting how the one picutre of that door is the one picture that doesn't work.

I have it right here though.

Hard to tell if it is the picture or the car.

There seems to be a recuring story about Elderly gentlemen, Marauders, and Garage door openings. :geezer:

UM, Charlie/Gordon? Don't even start.:neener:
