I found this on Craigslist, it's about an hour away from me but it really caught my eye. There are obviously details missing, I.E. miles etc..

I'm actually dealing on a '97 SHO myself, cams aren't welded. Anyone know of a source for this in the Southeast (ATL, CLT, etc.)?

That's about the right price for an "abused" 3rd gen. Have you gone and looked at it? It's probably not in the best of shape and I bet it needs work. He has the only "4.3" V8 SHO I know of too! It's a 3.4l. Cheesehead, Kirk from NESHO will travel to YOU and weld them. He's the man that deals with ANY problems for the 3rd gen's. After tax return time I'm going to buy one off of him and ditch my Mirage.

Nah, it's silver, but hey, there's always MACCO!;)

I've been thinking about picking up a DD to keep the miles down on the Bluesmobile. The SHO is a one-owner TX car, the price is right, and I know the owner, so I'm giving it some pretty strong consideration.

Hey, thanks for the tip! Gotta keep these guys in mind if I decide to go through with the purchase.

Nah, just saw it on CL today. Its at least an hour drive and I am not particularly looking for a DD, financial reasons mostly, this one just caught my eye out of all the other regular cars out there.

V8 SHO, RUN LIKE HELL!!!!! Replacement parts are horribly expensive because they are unique to just that engine in that car.
I had one, they are money pits. Also had the cams fail in mine.
Ford killed the SHO with that V8. Crap can't even explain that engine.

you must be joking? weld the cams and you can weld the hood shut.
what happens with the v8's cams is they have the possiblity to slip on the shaft. they are pressed on and over time can slip. the engine is an interference design and once you get a large enough movement things start smacking each other. not good.
if it wasn't for heat causing the rear coils to go out prematurely and the cams, the v8 sho engine could have been one of the best engines ford ever made.
have doug lewis in ATL http://www.fordspecialists.com/ weld the cams if you are local. or you can have kirk doucette from http://www.nesho.com/camwelding.html do them.. i suggest kirk first but if thats too far doug can do it. :)

I talk to Kirk all the time and he has no problem driving out if there's more people in the area that need the same job done. Kirk is setting me up with one come Spring time. I will admit though, they aren't that fast compared to the Gen 1-2's. Let me rephrase, compared to an MTX.
