I would LOVE to have an OEM navigation system in my MM. (I'm not a big fan of the look of after-market radios)... Just wondering aloud here, I wonder if something like the below link could be made to fit. The biggest challenge I can see would be getting the GPS signal to the unit, and making the steering-wheel-buttons work...

Has anybody else attempted same?

I think the aftermarket units look better than that one!

It probably looks nicer when turned on!

I think aftermarket ones look better to, but it should fit. Why not look for a sync? That would have a better chance of fitting.

SYNC is a joint Ford/Microsoft thing for voice activation of radio, gps, mp3, cell phone, etc. Seems kinda neat.

I believe the Pioneer Z2 will do every thing SYNC does. Maybe John or somebody can chime in here.

Z2 will do all that.
Better check to see if that radio uses a Ford 24....

That's not a Ford24, so you'd have to get the harness from the Escape and convert it. There's no GPS antenna and you'd have to get it direct from Ford, since that pinout is not standard. I don't event think the changer controls match up. Also, it's a slide track install and not a rear pin install. By the time it's over, you could have had 90% of it's functionality by buyin one of the used D2 or D1's John recently had for sale and spent less money in the long run.
Your best bet is a D3 if you want most of this unit's functionality. The only thing the D3 would lack is voice activation.

Is there a thread or article on what the D1, D2 and D3 are? Basically whats the most "upgradeable" factory ford unit that we can install in our MMs?
Look under Johns Stereo in the vendor section. You can also PM me or Magindat ( Rich ) For help.

I think that another problem you would have with this radio is that it's out of an Escape Hybrid. Doesn't this radio have some of the display for the hybrid system in it? One of the Nav radios out of a standard Ford might be better.
I listened to one of the Pioneer units at Best Buy the other day, and was really blown away by it. It sounds great!

You can also see www.pioneerelectronics.com AND look in John's forum at each sale where I post all the details on each unit.
