TomTom splash screen hack

Today I was playing around with my new TomTom....

Not that hard, give it a shot!

I used "painbrush" to open the original jpg image file, then "file", "save as", select the type as "24 bit bitmap".

Then I used "Micrsoft office picture manager" to open the new *.bmp file. Then "picture", "resize", then "custom width x height" of 320 & 240, then "save" renaming it then.

You might be able to do the same trick. If it plugs into the pc with a USB cable, it most likely will be able to be read like a memory device. Plug it in and open explorer, the device should show up as another "hard drive" listing.
Look for a similar type image file, it might be named differently. Notice the file properties and make a new one that matches. Let us know if you figure it out.

You can also download freeware/shareware that edits graphic images from "tucows" or similar websites. Or send me the pic you want altered, I'll return it to you then.

the 330 really dosent have a background anywhere. and it doesnt have a usb cable with it either

Isn't there a usb port just above the power button on your model?

The "splash" screen is the image that is shown as the unit powers up. Does the 330 have that, or does it just go right into a menu or a map view on startup?
