I Love My MM in the snow!

Another snowstorm and the Marauder handled great. Went to the grocery store yesterday during the 'best' of the storm. With the winter tires and five 40lb bags of kitty litter in the trunk the wheels barely had a chance to spin, naturally I had the T/C off. Saw many fwd's spinning and sliding to a stop. 25cm of snow and freezing rain can't stop the MM. Just another reason to love it! :D

That's why I can't bring myself to drive mine in winter. Not that I think it wouldn't be an excellent winter car, it's getting out the brush and putting it on the paint. :eek:

That, and all the people who recently moved here just don't know how to drive in winter.

It pains me to see a Marauder covered in snow:(. Guess that is why I moved to Florida:D. Glad to hear it goes well in that white stuff.

You're braver than I am - I certainly wasn't about to venture out during the snowfall, yesterday! By the time it was all said and done, we ended up with well over a foot of snow at my place.

Even now, you still need to drive with caution - The Marauder (with Blizzak WS50's) handled it well, but I passed several cars that bounced of guardrails, along the 401/DVP, on my way into work this AM.

What I don't understand is why the city was so slow in getting the roads plowed... Most of the main city streets (Finch, Sheppard, etc.) were only 1 lane this morning, as a result of snow... :rolleyes:

My marauder is incredible in the snow... I was passing front wheel drive cars that were stuck or spinning tires... On a start I would start out in 2nd gear and nothing would stand in its way... I have four 50lb bags of plastic pellets in the trunk and that helps greatly... I also have blizzak WS60 on her and those thing are incredible... I was surprised as to what I was able to plow through... definitely getting a winter beater next year though... don't want to put her through this torture again!

Made it back and forth to the Station twice yesterday during the storm, no problem. Leg home last night was on unplowed roads with high winds/drifts across the roads, and, I managed to plow my way into the unplowed driveway without hitting the wife's Passat. :D

I just bought 235-65-16 Blizzaks on CVPI steelies, they'll be here before our next storm and I can try them out. The stock BFG's just don't cut it when trying to go up hills from a stop, especially on ice.

My MM with snow tires / rear studded did better than my Focus has, did, does, and EVER will in the snow.

I just can't bear to subject her to the road salt.

One season was enough, and just those 3 months have shown quite a bit of under carriage rust that could have, and should have been avoided.:(

Running Gislaved snows on black steelies and no trouble getting around. I went one size smaller to get more bite into the snow (215/65 and 225/70) and have no issue with highway stability either.

I got a couple of them on ebay a couple years ago. It works great, and is has soft edges. Much better for the paint. Added bonus is that you can remove alot of snow quickly.

And yes having four snow changes the the way the car drives in snow. I have four winter force on 16" steelies, but I don't add wieght into the trunk, and have had no problems.

my twin brothers 2wd ranger is awesome in the snow. my older brothers FX4 Level II is incerdible.

Nope. Last time I went skiing at Lake Louise we stayed in Calgary. We never saw any salt and all the roads were covered with ice/sand the whole week. Sure kept the speeds down!

My poor car saw a few weeks of salted roads this winter before I left, I hope to have a winter beater next year. Many newer cars in Utah have really bad rust problems already...not good!:help:
