Lucky for me I live in a Bareland condo.

No association approval needed.

Mike Poore had one installed last December. Here's the thread with some pics, too >>>>> http://www.mercurymarauder.net/forums/showthread.php?t=32788&highlight=post+lift

Yup, I agree.... unless you have VERY tall ceilings, or VERY short cars (ie Ford GT), you might not find this as useful. However, using it as a home Rack for repair work.....

There was just a great group buy on these ... on another Marauder site.
They sure are nice.

hmm Just checked and the Aviator and Lightning are both 70.9"'s tall. This might make for a problem. I have atleast a 10 foot ceiling. But can't get a Marauder and Lightning/Aviator together. It would work good for a boat or just as a storage rack though. And makes changing tires and oil a breeze.

;)I have two of these in my garage which has a 12' ceiling. First of all you don't need a 12' ceiling but it helps if you stack a car over something tall like a truck or van. Second, do look into a 4 post lift that is massive(like the Perfect Park 7000---1800-762-9651---www.liftsunlimited.com. If you call Lifts Unlimited ask for the owner(Walter) or his wife and tell them Olsen in Maryland sent you.) Third, if you are in Marylamnd I can be your guide to off-delivery of your lift without excessive expense and assembly pointers.Fourth, if you plan to put your MM on or under the lift I would get the WIDE body model so you clear the mirrors without having to collapse the driver's side mirror.Six,do order the aluminum ramps and any other accessories when you order the lift-saves $ and shipping.
There are many lifts on the market but none stronger than the Perfect Park(the 4 posts look like 4 trees!) This is a family run business and they are great in providing expert assistance. And heree's the good part-they don't cost any more and in some cases cost less than the competition.

Thanks, as I will finally be looking into these in the spring.

I want the same thing as well. I'll have to raise the roof section over my garage to accommodate one. Some day:rolleyes:.......

I'm going to go measure my garage ceiling height.

I have 6 of them right now. I am looking to get a seventh in the spring. I have 10' ceilings in one garage, and 11'8" in the new garage. Works well in both, but obviously better in the taller. No issues with them at all. Have had the first on since 98.

When you are calculating clearance, ensure you add a margain for the fact that the lift must go up 3-4 inches to unlock the stops before the lift can be lowered.

If you are in the Michigan/Ohio area look up ARESCO lifts in Commerce Twp Mich and ask for Steve.

Well I have an 11' 4" ceiling in my Garage. Looks good for a lift in the future.

:hmmm: Instead of raiseing the roof, How about digging a 8 foot hole in the Garage floor , put the lift in the hole and you can have one car below ground and one above.

A good idea....but.....with the water table here in Florida it is not possible. ....

Not really so depending on where you live in Florida. I'm 8 1/2 foot above sea level & Their is a area in Florida "Citris Hills "where it is 254 foot above sea level.

You should look up how Japanese parkades work. It is amazing.

They are like this: http://www.volvoxc.com/volvo_photo_gallery/albums/userpics/2004art_japan/normal_Parking%20Garage.jpg

see here for a video of how it works. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UeNNJn0acW0&eurl=http://www.freshcreation.nl/comments.php?id=360_0_1_0_C

Check with your local building permit department. My city has effectively outlawed two story garages, and a high sidewall single story is also height limited by zoning ordinance (requires a varience).

They also told me they would not allow a pit in a garage, account it can collect heavier than air explosive fumes.

As for picking a four post lift instead of a two post lift. How do you change tires on a four post lift?

I view 4 post lifts as a really nice storage solution; 2 post lifts as a really nice maintenance solution.

Don't forget about the garage door. The highest ceiling in the world won't work if the garage door isn't high enough to clear the lift.

Luckily my garage door is a multi linked thingy and can go whereever I want it to go. Currently it curves too soon but with a minor modification it can be made to go right up where it is needed. Should make it quieter too.

The width is my only concern. My Garage is 18 feet by 18 feet. Marauder just fits. I think I might have to look at getting a Four post for storage and a two post for working on it. I just keep wondering where I will be putting my 15' Canoe.

When I was getting my snow tires fixed a guy came in, he was buying a new Ford Truck and had to have it lowered 3 inches to get it in to his garage. They came up with a solution for him, at half the dealership quoted price, and he is now going to buy his brand new truck. I guess if you have a low roof, you might be able to consider a lowering option on one of your rides.

And the power opener will still work? I'd like to see pics of that. Very interesting.

...a 4 post could come with casters, which could allow rolling it out onto the drive/pad in front of a garage (if it would fit through the door). This would allow outdoor use where interior height was insufficient. However, of course, a 4 post is a poor substitute for the maintenance/access advantage of a 2 post.

I have been looking at lifts, but fortunately do not need one for parking, I need it so I can work on the car without jack stands.

A two-post lift is what you need in that case so you can lift from the sides and have the wheels off the ground. I do a lot of brake work for track days, and tire rotations.

For four-post lifts, concrete isn't a big deal, but for two-post lifts, you want some GOOD concrete that is plenty thick.

Be sure to get a well built one, two or four-post. Cheap ones have been known to slip and let a car fall. Of course all the sites say theirs is best. so do some research.

The link given doesn't work, is this company still in business? They don't seem to offer a two-post model on the pages I did find, but their main link is down.

works for me.

These guys have been in the local paper, local company, they started business because of the various other companies and the poor quality that these others offered. He turned a search for a lift into a business and is doing well.
