I saw yet another new comer ask yet another redundent question. Again I watched as the same old boys took pot shots at him. The grand ole one liners. One of the posters defended his action with...
"tired of answering the same old question" I ask...
Then why do it? If you dont like the question and dont want to answer it...
Then dont.
"If you cant say something nice...."

Heres my point.
This a very valuable site. its free, and its good. It holds tons of text and data and links and photos. For free. Its full of knowledge and experiance. And it never locks up or crashes. Some guy named MM04 something, watches over us. Guarding against attacks, and answering questions, for free.
Now do you think Dennis Reinhart thinks its free???? or the other vendors who pay for this, think so?
These vendors have sold all "you guys" all kinds of stuff, they need "newbies".
So stop chasing them away with your smart remarks, and cruel little digs.
Wanna shoot sheet down?? Buy a 12 ga. and join the skeet club.

This is nothing new. My first post was answered the way all newbies are treated every where. It's initiation.

Clubs of anykind are not for the thin skinned or faint of heart.

My first post in 2003 I asked for info about "4:11" gears and was told "4:11" stood for information and not gears.

We have newbies asking questions w/out putting their location or type of car or mods. I spent time researching a newbies question only to find out well he does not have a Marauder so my answer was for naught. This has been happening over and over the past 6 months. We have newbies from other countries pulling up 5 year old posts and making fun of us. When fired upon I return fire and I don't miss!

I think admin should require location as in state and type of car in your sig.

You'd be amazed what you can find sometimes.

I have yet to go on a new forum with a question, before checking and using the search feature.

Bull...You missed my point.
What becomes of this site when it is no longer profitable?
What would cause a contributing member or vendor to pull support?
When they no longer see a return on their money.
Its really very simple.
Be nice, invite new customers into the net and treat them with the same respect you expect. If they are up to no good... that MMo4 guy will deal with it.
Try to remember, you "too" are a guest, be considerate to our host and he will keep up the good work.
If you want to be like that... open a site of your own and insult everyone that logs on. Then see how many vendors send you a check.

If they are chased away that easily they are not about to part with any money.

People who are interested in the MM and want to spend money will not interpet a pin prick as a motal wound. Just as I did not let the responses to my first posts chase me away.

You have a point I just don't think it is that big of a deal.

We were all new at one time. The amount of information I've learnd through my association with this website is huge!! I can keep up with the best of them!! This website has become so important to me that I've helped manage it for the last 3 years. It's really full time job and my payout is the satisfaction of helping others.

We did change the registration process, requiring any new member to fill in a location. Of course it's up to the member how vague or specific they get. I can flip a button that requires everyone to put something in their location.

Captain makes a very good point. Sure, it costs money to maintain this website. If the funds did dry up, this website will disappear. It's as simple as that. The website is free and we truly appreciate the assistance members have given us over the years, both in knowledge and financial support - the fuels that keeps the website moving.

Let us help you. As Billy says, providing information in your profile and signature will be helpful to us in answering your questions. Give our N00bies a chance to experience our hospitality.

John is offering to run the site himself, not fund it for others to run.

If the site is or should become a burden in any way, then I suggest someone take John up on his offer.

Flower is the little skunk from Walt Disneys "Bambi" He hung out with thumper the rabbit. I am too old to remember. which one of those two actually said it... but was wisely advised by his mother to remember...
"If you cant say something nice dont say nothin at all."
Which reminds me of my mothers advise...
it is better to be silent and thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt.
She had a million of em.
children should be seen and not heard,
my favorite...
Yes you can, no you may not. Requires a little pondering.
Good manners are free, use them.

With Maraurders changing ownership at a pretty fast clip we are experiencing a cycle of new owners and they are asking questions. It is good policy to recognize them and steer them with correct and comprehensive answers cause someday they will be the old hands and doing the same for the next generation of new owners.

"I'm a newbee" is a flag for us to extend a warm welcome, from many members, offer some advice on care and feeding of the Marauder and steer that person to the nearest club so he can be contacted.

I wish the site management could made posting of a members resident state retro active.

As a newbie, sometimes that forum search thing does not work as well as you would hope. One time I was trying to find an old thread about a Blue MM for sale. Finally out of aggravation and goofiness I typed in "Pants". For some odd reason it work!!! lol. So my point is sometimes its hard to find what you are looking for on this site bc there is so much info. Just be easy on us new guys. Also, I feel that in any group you will have some guys who make fun of ya and some who don't..thats just the way it is.

The previous owner chose not to require that info when registering, so there are a goodly number of members missing that info in their profiles. We have thousands of members with only a small percentage posting, so retroactive requirements would be an exercise in futility. To those who read this thread and don't have a location in their profile, please feel free to edit and add a location.

This ^^^ is probably good advice as a general rule. However, I really don't see this issue as a major problem at all. Every "newbie" that has ever posted here has had the answers provided to them many times over -- generally with a supporting link to a prior discussion on the topic. If there is some good natured ribbing that takes place in the process, that is to be expected too. No big deal.

Nationally, regionally and locally the Marauder clubs/groups that I have been involved with are among the MOST welcoming people around. Newbies that want to get involved with the Marauder community -- can get involved and are accepted immediately. Come on out and join one of the clubs and meet some screennames in person. Heck, you might even see the "ribbing" that goes on between some of the long term members. ;)

You might as well talk to the new guys. The car is 5 years old and out of production. How many new things do you think are going to be designed? If some new blood with a love for the MM and some ingenuity don't come along we are all going to be talking how to get crown vic parts ot fit for us cause there ain't no parts left when something breaks. Already Megs and FIT have pulled out because of low demand. Who is next. The longer you have your car the fewer things you have to do to it. This community can not survive on 4'' tips and stainless steel inserts. We sould'nt be shooing anybody away intended or not.
