Made this yesterday, and am very impressed with how well it turned out.

Check it out,...

Browned one small to medium sized onion (chopped small) in small amount of olive oil. Salt and pepper to tase.

Added 2.5 pounds of Ground Chuck (Same pot) until brown.

Drained in a collander, and added back into the pot. Salt and pepper to taste.

Two 39 oz. cans of tomoato sauce added with two 15.5 oz. cans of Brooks hot and spicy beans.

Simmer for about an hour to an hour and a half and serve.

I did not add the thickening packet nor the salt as it was not needed.

Kroger does carry Carroll's mix.

Instead of Ground meat, use small chunks of beef (1/4 inch cubes). It's wayyyyy better that way. Trust me! 18 years as Butcher and countless batches of chili.

You are correct, Shelbys chili mix is one of the absolute best out there....

We always used dark red kidney beans, but I found that Pinto beans are also very good in chili.

Brooks beans FTW. They are the best for chili. Chili-o chili powder is what we usually use but I'll have to try this stuff.

You are correct, Shelbys chili mix is one of the absolute best out there....

:up: that's how I make it, great results! Good stuff! I usually have to make two batches; mild for family, full hot for me. :D

I use that all the time. We considered it for the "goodie" bags at MMIV! Great tasting chili.

... but I found that Pinto beans are also very good in chili.

With the blower added, wouldnt this cause "explosive evacuation" upon rear-end impact ? :D:D:D

A tip from the Food TV....
Throw in 1/2 of an onion while cooking & the other half at the end. This way the onion isn't overpowering in flavor, but still firm for great texture.
