hello out there in the marauder world.
i was just wondering if some of you more experienced marauder owners could help me out.
i want to buy headers and do a full exhaust soon.
i was wondering what headers are good and im a security guard so cheap as possible!!!
i also got to thinking will long tubes for a ford mach 1 fit on the marauder with some customization or just bolt-on?????
i also saw mac long tube headers for 03-04 mach 1s that i like and was wondering if they will fit and are only like $350. and if any one would be ever so kind to put as many headers that fit on the marauder and websites it would be appreciated very much

thank you

Why the question? Your sig says kooks headers coming soon so it looks like you've made your decision already.

Their is no Cheap Headers for the Marauder. Stainless Works Headers & Kooks Headers are what most here put on their Marauders. Expect to spend some where is the area of $1400- $1800 for a average complete system.

Remember, when you pay $300 for headers, well you get $300 headers. Once you go through the install, you'll be glad you got quality headers so you won't have to do it again in the near future.

You know, I usually agree, but I had a 03 Mach1, put Mac headers on without a single problem. A buddy of mine liked the look/sound/performance of the longtubes, but always has to have the best of the best. He had me put on a set of SLP ceramic coated long tubes, took all day as opposed to three hours on my car, had to modify the EGR tube...long story short, I would definitely say whatever headers you do find, get input from other people that have installed them and drive a car with them and like/dislike the charateristics that go with them. (Now stepping down from the soapbox)

I don't know of anyone who has tried a set of Mach 1 headers on a Marauder.
You could be the first and let everyone know how it goes. That'd be great.
My Stainless Works headers fit fantastic, no modifications and I can get the starter out without dropping the passenger side.

Kooks or SW. Plenty of info on both can be found on here.
Mach1 headers will probably not work due to frame, crossmember, and steering column interference. But try it, if they work we'll have another option!

Dennis Reinhart has the solution. Best bang for the buck.
Each system has ups and downs. Sound, fit, cost, performance. X pipe,
H pipe. magna flow, kooks this, stainless that. O2 sensor readings here vs there, blah blah blah. Call Dennis. Get er done.

Very good advice. If you don't have the cash...just wait until you do. It's beter to wait for something good in quality, instead of cheaping out, and putting a piece of garbage on your car.

keep in mind that $1400-$1800 would include the rest of the system too, not just the header cost.
You'd still want to or have to have some exhaust work done to simply attach the stock exhaust and add a pair of cats.
Shame to put free flowing headers on a car, then choke it up with the rest of the stock exhaust. Check out how small those bends in the tailpipes get.
Nope, won't get off cheap, might as well do it right.

Make sure you use mandrel bent pipe, it makes a difference.

...The worlds quickest Marauder had stock exhaust manifolds :bows:...and now a quote from the FordFE forum:
"Makes me glad my teen-age years are behind me and I no longer feel compelled to ***** around with worthless headers! The sc***** knuckles, the burned flesh, the endless hours of cussing and hammering and torching and beating and bending and what-all. The constant burned out gaskets, the burned out tubes, the loose bolts, the scraping on the bottom, the cops hearing the loud exhaust and pulling you over for safety inspections, the cheap steel and bad welds, the lack of customer service"
There are much better ways to spend your hard earned money than on headers....<:flamer:?

And where was this?
Also, what did you have to do, if anything, with the EGR tube?
Im looking to do my exhaust pretty soon so any help will be appreciated, thanks.

I read an article on headers, his opinion is... the factory manifold is as good as and in some ways better than the short tubes. His position is... to improve the actual flow you must use long tubes no less than 2 5/8 inch in diameter. When you get to the collector you need to jump up to 2 3/4. Also need to move the oxygen sensor to the primary tube or the sensor will mis read the levels due to turbulance and temperature. Despite the fact that reads from this tube are not "true"
This forum has led me to believe that the shortys fit better and are a cheaper install. But most would agree that little is to be gained in sound or power. One mechanic in lacrosse refers to this manifold as "zoot headers" and he too says leave them alone unless you are going all the way.
Any one ever heard that term before?

Got them on eBay. Yes you'll have to lengthen the EGR tube and you might have to shim the motor up because the steering shaft may rub against the header. You'll also have to get new down pipes made because the MM stock ezhaust will not mate to the headers.
