I also heard that some hops growers are now planting corn to sell to make ethanol. Seems the ethanol market is more lucrative than the hops market.

Cheaper gas or higher priced beer ? .... your choice.

I don't drink beer so it doesn't matter.

I don't drink much.

Although my Dad's Collection of Single Malt Whiskey's is pretty fine.

As a homebrewer, yes, some hops are suffering. I have been forced to use some alternatives.

Give is two years and we will have a glut again. Who knows, maybe we will go back to making beer the way they did prior to the 1500's, that's when hops were introduced to beer.

The Egyptians did it with herbs and wormwood. A little wormwood goes a long way.

I don't think you'll see too much an impact in the run-of-the-mill beers, maybe more so in the microbrews and specialty beers.

I have about 40 gallons of homebrew on hand right now, so no worries here.
