I did something to my TASK MANAGER a few days ago and now it won't open.

I used to frequently use CTL-ALT-DEL to open my TASK MANAGER to see what programs were running, and how much CPU usage was being used.

Occationally a program called RTVSCAN would peg out my cpu to 99% and completely stall my pc. It made web pages slow, made it impossible to scroll active windows, and while posting, I would type but it would take several moments for the letters to show up. I used TASK MANAGER to basically kill (END) the process occationally when it decided to scan and hog cpu while I was busy trying to accomplish something.

Now...out of the blue, when I launch TASK MANAGER, I still get the monitor icon in the system tray, and the box in the task bar, but the program is doesn't open with all the tabs. The tabs are gone. It won't open, nor does right clicking give the option to open it. All I get is a blank window that says "TASK" in the upper left, and "STATUS" in the upper right. There is no way to close, maximize, or minimize. The options at the bottom of the window are "end task", "switch to", and "new task".

What happened to the old window with all the tabs "Applications", "Processes", "Performance" ?

I must have done something...but what?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rtvscan If you haven't looked it up yet.
Apparently there have been mixed reviews, but people seem to complain of severe (99%) bogging. Maybe a new virus has entered your computer, I'm sure someone here will have the answers

I am all too familiar with RTVSCAN and the PITA it causes on some computers.

That however is not my issue. If it were, I would use a different virus program, or just buy a MAC.:P

I need to figure out how to get my TASK MANAGER running correctly again.

Double click anywhere on the task manager window border.

I must have been aggrivated and clicked the border by accident in the first place.

Man is that a dumb aced option.

BTW, that's not an image of my task manager (Compaq & AOL processes! Ack!). I'm also not so talented as to have known that off the top of my head. :D But Google is. :P
