View Full Version : An underappreciated Mod

I had noticed when I've taken my wife and friends in my car at night, no one can seem to find the interior door handles. I have the Charcoal interior.

I remembered seeing a kit on this site that would solve that problem. So, my brother John got it for me for Christmas.

This is the interior door handle LED Light kit from MarauderConcepts.

My brother Tom is an electician by trade and can wire anything. He is also a pretty good fabricator. He did the installation for me. Tom's first reaction when reading the instructions was that this was not "just" some kit, and he knew it couldn't have been a factory kit. I asked, "what do you mean ?". He said the detail given in the instructions is far beyond what the factory or any company would give. I told him how I learned about it through MM.Net. This made sense to him because as he said, only an enthusiast would give such detail.
Anyway, the installation went smoothly. Everything works great.
The reason I say it is an underappreciated mod is because for all the time and effort that went into creating the kit, and the time put into installing it perfectly, most people don't even realize anything was done to the car. This is really a compliment because it is so well done it looks as if it came from the factory that way.

...........and functional. Now my dates can see their way to a clear exit handle, not clawing at the door trying to escape like a caged and frightened animal with only one chance at freedom (silly girl, there will be another stop light or stop sign soon). I love mine. I need to get a set for my Durango now.

Reminds me of the Dane Cook joke, "where's the door handle" bit...

Here's the bit (stand up comedy, but audio is not work appropriate):

It is a really good kit. I wanted more light output so I went with bigger brighter LEDs. I'll try and get some pics.

I'm always fumbling in the dark looking for my garage door opener button.

I'm always fumbling in the dark looking for my garage door opener button.

There is a backlighting mod for that too. TorinoDan did it.

BTW, my door handles are easy to spot without lighting. I switched to chrome handles, so just look for the shiney spot on the door.

Nice mod, I'll have to get that since I wanted to add "ambient" lighting in my MM come Spring time. I never knew about that site, it seems they're an "MCM" group over there. Didn't even have a link to here! lol, and their Trilogy link brings you to SVTP.com.

I've thought about doing the interior light kit on mine cause all my passengers (besides my wife) can never find the handle.

Pm Marc, a member of the STOOGES Trilogy Install Team. He designed, wrote the manual and mfg. the kit. Like Jim, I installed brighter LEDs but the kit is the nuts. It is indeed more professional than any kit I have ever purchased with the lone exception of the Trilogy Kit. If you cannot reach Marc here you can at www.motorcitymarauders.com (http://www.motorcitymarauders.com) He is a member here and of Sunshine State Marauders and he has sold a lot of these kits and he also has a great VALET lighting kit. :beer:Dennis

+1

I have his interior lighting kit and undercar door light kit. Both are high quality. I've had both installed for awhile with no problems.
