Hello Everyone,

Newbie here with a question. I searched but found no specific info.

What is the Ford part number for the Uhaul trans pan with drain plug?

I asked a parts dept for this pan, but they only came up with 6L3Z-7A194-A, which is the standard pan with no drain plug.

In the absence of a part number, what is the vehicle application I should ask for to get one of the Uhaul trans pans with drain plug?

Also, what is meant by the "lollypop" you will find in the trans pan, if the trans pan has never dropped for service?

Thanks,

Kevin

You can buy the Plug and drain kit for about 5 bucks and do it yourself, or buy one premade from Reinhart.

And if the lollipop is still there, all it says is the pan was never dropped. It may have been flushed, but doubtful.

The lollipop was a yellow plug that had something to do with the dipstick tube assembly during manufacture. Apparently it it popped into the pan when the dipstick is inserted for the first time. Thus, it's presence would indicate that the pan had never been dropped.

I didn't know we made a plug kit. I learn something new everyday.

If you are drag-racing frequently, & wish to change trans fluid frequently, the drain is convenient. If you wish to properly inspect the pan & filter for debris, it requires dropping the pan. In any case, the deeper cast aluminum pan (it comes with a drain), is probably the best option.

I stopped by the Ford Dealer and gave the guy the part number and the only thing that came up was a pan for $36.00, I had him call the warehouse and sure enough the pan did not have a drain plug, anyone with a different part number.

I got the above numbers off this site two years ago and ordered the above parts for my 2006 CVPI...and not more than 2 minutes ago I looked at the nice drain plug and the original box and the pan with the plug in it...honest to pete...as we used to say.

Maybe I should call another dealer, do you remember how much you paid for your trans pan.

It was in the range you were quoted... I get 25% off Ford List price... approx $30 The bolts come 4 to a bag and are not cheap ... gasket was under $10.:banana2:

Do you have the number for this dealer, my guess is that he is in Southern New Jersey, and also why would I need new pan bolts.

Is it on Roosevelt Boulevard in Philadelphia Pennsylvania.

He said it would be $57.00 plus $6.00 shipping, I think that I might just get a drain plug kit for $10.00 or so and go that route and just drill a hole in the bottom of the pan.

Do yourself a favour...don't put the plug in the bottom of the pan. Put it where the factory does on the back side of that little well. Might save it from being cleaned off on a speed bump someday.

If you go this route, get yourself some copper washers to replace the nylon
ones that come with the kit. The nylon washers tend to leak after awhile.

Thanks for the tip guys, I cannot believe this pan with the drain plug cost $57.00, when the stock pan without the drain plug goes for $36.00, if anyone is putting on one of those deep pans and wants to sell me there u-haul pan with the drain plug of course, I would be interested.

Old thread alert! :D

Why "alert" to an old thread that will probably always be informative and shows up in a search?

As bad (and with such limited options) as the search function is on this site, we need all the help we can get
