Was driving today when the car started to shack about 1000 rpm and fourth gear. The check engine light came on, I had Autozone pull the code. Its a misfire in cylinder 8. The car is 04 with 23k I just bought about 3 weeks ago. Now I got power train warranty on it considering it was certified now the questions is should I pull the plug and possibly replace it, inspect it the cop and the boot or bring it to the dealer? I doubt my little warranty would cover a cop or plug if that even is the problem.

Betcha' it got wet. Happened to mine in the first 20k miles.
Cause is poor seal where the wires enter/exit the COP covers.
No matter how you get it fixed, be sure to seal that up really well with silicone sealant.
If you haven't even had the car for a month yet i would take it back to the dealership.

My other car had an extended warranty on it, any problems that car had I took it straight to the dealer! Most expensive work....for a deductible...LOL!
I love it!:D

The COPs are around $30-40 on rockauto.com. Swap one around from another cylinder and see if the code follows it.

If you boght it at a Ford Dealer and its within the month they should take care of you.. if it water..its from the detailing of the engine... either way the Coil is FUBAR.. If you need a new OE one let me know..

DO NOT BUY ACCEL. If those are the ones you are talking about (cheap) you will be replacing yours in less than 10k again.
My cost on a COP with a boot is around $75 plus tax (motorcraft). Do it the right way the 1st time, and it should last around 50-80k.
I'm right in Floral park, so let me know if you want it ordered

Get some electronic parts cleaner and clean your coils and coil boots. Order some Granitelli (hope i spelled it right) COP connectors and it will be hooked up again. The stock coil connectors suck anyway.

John, take it back to the dealer. If it's a FORD or M/L dealers, they will do the work and u won't have the problem. I had the same problem, took it to the FORD dealer and they took care of it. From there had a tuned, and my ride performs like a rocket! U may pay a little extra, but the job will be done right bro!
