Quite simply contact a lawyer.

If it isn't real or if the demand for $5K is illegal then said person takes action against them or files a complaint with the local law enforcement. Have them charged with extortion.

Email and electronic mail faxes etc... are not legally binding. All legal letters must be sent in paper.

I seem to recall the name Susette van der Beek \/\/\/\/ associated with the other case. But it was connected to a different law firm, I think. Interesting .... and very odd.

SS Inserts should just repackage the items as REDUARAM, GNATSUM, and ARBOC inserts.

Such :bs:. I suspect that this is the Beginning of the End for FORD Motor Company. They are PO'ing their loyal supporters.

Should you have any questions concerning Ford’s position in this matter, please contact Susette van der Beek at (801) 366-3909.

I emailed ford and asked them if they are doing this or if someone is doing this to them.

Will see what they say.

The more I think about this .... I smell conspiracy from the Imports. ;) Maybe someone is planting the seeds of revolution.

Either that or someone spiked the Executive Water Cooler at FORD World Headquarters in Dearborn, MI. :shake:

Su

Maybe they need to be a little more subtle, but I like the idea.

"What? We aren't selling Ford Tradmark names." There's no Ford "STANGUM" or Mercury "DURAMARE."

What the people do with them after they buy them? We have no idea.

On our website, it clearly says "These letters are NOT to be re-arranged, nor applied to the bumper of any automobile."

Sort of like "Off road use only."

(yes, I know that the Feds are cracking down on that one)

Not sure about this one. SSInserts website is still up and taking orders for Mustang and Cobra letters (as well as Marauder). But all the pics of the inserts (uninstalled) have the letters re-arranged so they don't spell out anything.

i have had mine on for 3 + years and if i remember corrrectly i dont think the letters were in order when i received them... maybe it is an intelligence test, if you can't figure out the proper order from the bumper you don't deserve em.

Toyota should have never taken the number 2 spot. Ford has finally lost it.

This looks like it might be a scam. Dig real deep into that mustang forum, and you'll find links to similar scams toward other resellers. Even without the evidence presented, my Spidey-Sense tells me it is a scam... All auto manufacturers LOVE the aftermarket.. Sales of aftermarket gear spurs sales of new cars. Some people are attracted to certain cars because of the availability of aftermarket parts - and the automakers know this.

Further -- the "legal" document is filled with all kinds of scary legal-speak -- and at the end, asks for money. "Send us a check, sign and date." Whatever!

It's a scam.. I'll bet you $100

I lean that way, too. The forum linked here links to a VW forum with an almost identical set of demands.

Sure stinks of scammage to me!

If Ford were so hard pressed then why aren't they going after the millions of Mustang parts sellers on Ebay or other sale websites. Their are 100's of sellers on Ebay that sell the cheap bumper inserts for Ford vehicles.

I small scam also, a good one at that.

If they were getting on the guy about his VW Bug website and having a trademark name in the domain name then sadly what's stopping Ford from getting on www.MercuryMarauder.net ????

Things just don't add up.

Oh really?

One of the high courts this week said otherwise. I guess the Judges did not read your treatise on the topic.

That's how the Adobe PDF got started... A document that appears the same on any computer, no matter what operating system your using, and can be locked. Legal documents, receipts, bills of lading, etc are often in this format because early court decisions accepted PDF's as legally binding and other formats not-so-much.

its not out of character for ford to crap on thousands of ford-loyal enthusiasts and demand their way.

Ford isn't doing anything different from any other auto manufacturer, at least than GM and Chrysler.

In fact when this first came up years ago it was done by GM, the rest followed suit.

It's actually been a good thing for the restoration parts industry as it's basically eliminated the absolute crap parts that were out there

If I take photos of my family and use it for a calender that I sell will the following mfg whose products are in the photos ask for money?
Levis
Old Navy
Keds
Nike
Timex
Honda
Ford
Exofficio
Garage Master
Soloflex
Spalding
Disney

When I buy something the ownership is mine, including the use of the product. Certainly when Ford sells it's products it knows owners will take pictures of them.

If not all those ads, auto books, movies, tv shows and magazines would be paying licensing fees to every mfg for every item that is in every shot.

It's extortion, I have seen this in other situations.
