I was wondering if any of you all know the laws on tinted windows for your states...here in md i believe its 35%. I was asking because I was wondering if the police tend to "bother" you all for the tint...I saw a few cars with 5%...I wish I could pull that off....Just wanted you guys insight. I am debating tint on the Merc.
Thanks!

It is 35% in MD, I knew a guy in Howard County who got a 20% tint, he was pulled over and forced to get it off, I think he eventually settled on a 30% tint.

Yep it's 35% in MD but even if we got 35% (like I did) it is still illegal because the car comes with factory tinted glass at like 95% or 98%. The guy who did my tint said I'm either at 30% or 33% if it was to get tested.
I had 20% on my old car and had been pulled over twice and the cop never said anything about it but I didn't want to take a chance with the MM since every cop I go by looks at it and starts to wave lol.

That's just dumb, why on earth would anyone tint the windshield. I saw a Gran Prix from NY with 10% on the windshield before. :shake:

I had mine tested...came back at 3.3% he said....
i have 5% on it on all windows and the windshield has been tinted

I did not have mine done Jarod, came that way. I notice when I am in my brother's MM that his windows seem to have a greenish tint compared to mine. Mine is highly illegal, I know this, but I really dont want to change it.
I believe my windshield is 45% or so....not too dark but not clear.
I have 10 percent on mine and i LOVE IT!!! I would NEVER tint my front windshield thats just asking for trouble:nono:

I've got 10% all around, including the windshield "strip".. the rest of the windshield will be 30% (local sheriff did it, seems to take the glare off at night)..
it's a different driving experience at night, sort of sucks for backing up.. but I love it..
I've been pulled over once out of the county (I know and work with everyone in the county) and the officer didn't say anything to me.. I did roll my window down and kept my hands on the wheel while he was approaching the vehicle though..

I here ya on the "different" driving experience at night..... unless you have a light on you, it's hard to see you.

I really don't understand the seeming obsession for really dark window tint.
I crossed checked both sites and they read the same for Louisiana, 40/25/12.

I guess some see tint as "Cool" or whatever the current equivalent word is. However, I tend to think insecurity and hiding from something when I see the really dark tints.
Would be interesting to see the number of "dark tints" that have been rear-ended because the guy in the car behind can't see through the tint and anticipate those abrupt stops.
Sure seems to be a safety issue to me. :flamer:

This is the reason I have 3 grades of tint on my windows. The back window is legal ( Can't Touch this), with the front door windows Just under legal:whistle:, and the rear door windows are 2%, and this is for a level of security for things in the back seat. :coolman: Plus it gets really hot down here.

I have always had very dark tint on all of my vehicles, for one the tint protects the interior from the UV rays and helps keep the sun from beating down on you during the summer. During the winter it keeps the car warmer extracting the heat from the sun. The darker the tint the better UV protection...seems like a no brainer to me. I dont tint the entire window ever but I dont see how tinted window would make you get into a accident...?

visibility at night is tough for me sometimes. but my 3rd brake light can be seen fine through the rear glass.

Thats the reason i tinted mine. The sun would beat the hell out of my seats. I was using leather conditioner 3 times a week. But now im in a house and the MARAUDER stays in the garage now. No insecuritys here just protecting my investment :D and i must say i love it in the summer the sun stays off of me and keeps the interior ALOT cooler.

Ford calls it security or privacy glass.
Tinting the front w/s is just plain dumb.
Why not just spray paint the front w/s black?

Keep in mind...that most states allow exceptions to the tint law...If you get a optometrist's note that you have cataracts or have had eye surgery, etc.
you can have a darker tint...
All the guys at my Windsheld Tint Company run really dark tints... that's how they get away with it...
Ever noticed a really hot car parked in a handicap space and the guy hops out and runs inside to shop... same deal...he's got a buddy who's a doctor...
Personally I run legal tint...Architect

Yo ! It's Damien2003. I ran into u on Penn. Ave going 2 work. MD tint is 35%. I got 2 tickets within 3 weeks because of my tint. I got 20% all way around. I posted be4 saying if u come downtown beaware of @#$%^ass Dc police. They tolled me that they can give any one a ticket for there tint, if it's dark nomatter if u are from texas. If u get tint get anything lighter than 35 because u already have a slight tint on ur windows.20% will read 16%.

No tint for me. Makes it so I can see better. Day, Night, Rain, Snow. Not to mention, one LESS reason to be pulled over.
