Well, as of Saturday I no longer am employed.
The parent company is consolidating the sales department, and I am odd man out.
I'll find out the severence package details today, but then it's look for a new job mode.
Anyone need a good ouside sales rep for SE US?

Dayummm! I hate when that happens. I bet Tami is freakin'-out, isn't she? You know, I hate to sound like your dad, but these things happen for a reason. I bet there's something new and fresh and exciting in your future. I may be able to put you in contact with some automotive people in the great NorthEast (Jax area). Call me if you'd like!

Best wishes for you future endeavors!

J

It sux, but you'll most likely find something better in the end. Sometimes we don't know what's out there until we're forced to look.

And in my case, the wife was a LOT more panicked than I was. She almost drove me crazy.

Thanks guys! The buyout was generous, but now it's time to move on. As some of you said, you don't know what's out there until you're forced to look. I appreciate your support and suggestions.

I went thru the same process. So I totally understand what you are going thru. Make the effort to make looking for a job, your job ( 9to5). I have a feeling that I will start looking again too, just because it not right for me where I am right now.

I, too, know the downsized feeling.

I was downsized in Dec 2007. At 65 years of age, Im probably now retired whether I like it or not. Can't see any company hiring me at my age and salary.

My ex-company is a Wall Street Bank, so I can't tell you how great I felt when I heard that Wall Street bonuses AVERAGED $223,000 per person, and I was shoved into the street. (Seven figure bonuses are not uncommon.)

Good luck in your search.
