You can buy these or make them. They run about $1/stud (last time I checked) and only have 55 studs/tire. Forget it! I made my own. Like they say; Ability is the poor mans wealth.

This is my 27 speed '99 Specialized FSR Comp Enduro. The tires are an old set of Kevlar bead, front/rear specific WTB Velociraptors that came stock on my Bontrager Privateer. I absolutely HATED these tires so I "fixed" them. They're much better now LOL!

This shows the inside of the front tire. I ran the screws in a zig zag pattern for steering. (Easy to do since the knobs ran that way to begin with). I had to punch holes through the knobs into the tire by hand using a piece of wire I sharpened on a bench grinder. That way I could see where to twist in the screws....also by hand. Ouch.

This is the rear tire. I bought two boxes of 5/16 screws to do the job. When done I had 14 left over. That's a total of 186 studs! I ran the screws down the center for traction. I lined these with an old inner tube that I cut length wise, removing the valve stem. Inside that I reinstalled the regular tube and inflated to 70psi. They don't lose any pressure but are heavier.

Front tire installed. The bike can't be rolled across carpet because the tires stick to it. These work great on ice rinks, creeks and rivers but are noisy, twitchy, and just plain creepy on dry pavement.

I have exactly seven hours labor into them. Total cost? Less than $5.
