The 3.0s hold up better than the 3.8s of those years.

We used to have them for company cars back in the day. They held up well, except for the brakes...the rotors were always warping. Sears hated to see us coming.

Ahh as I fear the KM are a bit too high for me.

229,900km or 142,800miles.

Cheap but almost dead too.

(Just read the email)

I have a 1995 Sable LS Wagon like that s(h)itting in my driveway. I bought it new in October, 1995... it was one of the last of the 1995 Taurus/Sables; built on March 31st, 1995. (The last day of production at the Ford Chicago Assembly plant.
That car has got to be the absolute worst car I ever owned. EVERY possible system has failed on it. The 3.8 engine got new head gaskets twice, the transmission was rebuilt , the air conditioning has been overhauled twice, cooling system (radiator and thermostat) replaced, brakes were overhauled twice, several batteries & tires, power steering pump and hoses, and the front suspension system (struts, lower ball joints and tie rod ends)...
It's difficult to understand the difference between that turd of a car and the 1987 Sable GS Sedan which we also bought new, and drove for 135,000 trouble-free miles before trading it in on a Mustang for our son's graduation gift.

Wagons are nice; I like them better than an beastly big SUV for what you want a wagon for...

My '95 Windstar did the same thing. The '00 Windstar that replaced it had redesigned heads
that were better at holding onto their gaskets, but it still popped it's transaxle at 43K.

Taurus, and it's platform-mates surely didn't do anything good for Ford's reputation. Ford
couldn't possibly pay me enough to ever own another FWD Ford product...
