For all you kilt wearing, sheep-inard eating Scotsmen and women.

:bagpipe3: :bagpipe3: :snare: :bagpipe3: :bagpipe3: :snare: :bagpipe3: :bagpipe3:

By Robbie Burns

Fair fa' your honest, sonsie face,
Great Chieftan o' the Puddin-race!
Aboon them a' ye tak your place,
Painch, tripe, or thairm:
Weel are ye wordy of a grace
As lang's my arm.

The groaning trencher there ye fill,
Your hurdies like a distant hill,
Your pin wad help to mend a mill
In time o' need,
While thro' your pores the dews distil
Like amber bead.

His knife see Rustic-labour dight,
An' cut you up wi' ready slight,
Trenching your gushing entrails bright
Like onie ditch;
And then, O what a glorious sight,
Warm-reekin, rich!

Ye Pow's wha mak mankind your care,
And dish them out their bill o' fare,
Auld Scotland wants nae shinking ware
That jaups in luggies;
But, if you wish her gratefu' pray'r,
Gie her a Haggis!

wow, the most important and famous Scottish poet ever. The Bard of Aryshire. "Ode to a Haggis" is a notable poem read at every Burns supper just after the haggis is piped in. Another poem you may have heard of is "Auld Lang Syne", a favourite of mine At Hogmanay.

I doubt there is anyone that has not been touched by Burns works. Many just don't know it.

You should see what people have to do to animals in order to put dinner on your table.

Harvested humanely my a$$... :mad2: clubbing an animal till it's unconcious then skin it, while it is still alive and can feel it. Not to mention that they sometimes leave the baby seals to die since they don't have a monther now. Those vets are having their pockets lined with green. :argue:

With the greatest of respect, I think you've bought into the compelling but misleading arguments put forth by organisations such as Greenpeace, etc.
Sealing is no more or less inhumane than many other types of animal slaughter - ever see how chickens live and die? Not many people care about chickens because an image of a chicken doesn't tug on the emotional heartstrings of people like the image of a baby seal does.
The seal hunt is pretty highly regulated, and the harp seal (the iconic white ones) is not nor ever has been "endangered". As well, the hunt is a pretty important part of the economy of southern Newfoundland and northern parts of the Maritimes -there are a lot of people that depend on the hunt for a lving.
Lastly, I very highly doubt that seals are skinned alive - there's simply no reason to do so.

Yes she is. Unfortunately many people who only see propaganda videos from GreenPeace and similar groups are.
I wonder why Michael Moore hasn't done one yet.

People wonder why there is an over population of seals and sea lions, and why Salmon are endangered.

^^ What they said. You'll notice the animal in the picture is spotted, meaning it can live on it's own, without assistance from it's mother.

The people of Newfoundland have to live off these animals. They sell the pelts, and eat the meat - and it's pretty nasty meat. The Greenpeace and PETA crowds don't know what they are talking about, and boycotting Newfoundland shellfish only means the fisherman don't sell as much fish. To provide for their families for the lost income - they have to kill more seals.

How's that for irony.

Probably another jello eating leather purse and shoe wearing, save the poor animals Vegan.

Or maybe it would be better if the seals where penned up and shot in the forehead with a compressed air bolt gun.

For all the whiners please visit your local meat rendering plant. Smell the smell, see the slaughter and wade through the blood. Then go for a burger, buy a new leather handbag and shoes and hop in your LEATHER clad Marauder.

That was uncalled for, just because she shows compassion for a defenseless animal.

Either get this thread back on track or close it!!!
