Hold up your hand, if you knew that yesterday was the NHL All Star Game. Anyone know the score?

I missed it completely. East - 8, West - 7. Must have been a wild game of high scoring.

That is acutally a low scoring game for an All-Star game. Nope missed it completely was out running errands.

And you are still a WEENIE!!;)

Actually I watched the Buick open on TWN (Tiger Woods Network), and never knew the NHL All Star game was being played, until there was brief mention of it on ESPN radio early this morning. In fact, it's the first time in recollection of ever hearing there was such a thing as an NHL All Star game.

The point of all this is that I find it fascinating that Hockey fans are so wrapped up in the game, and yet it goes mostly un-noticed by most folks here in the states.

Recalling the strike, some were outraged, but many others gave the situation a shrug. :dunno:

To make the point, how many can name just 5 of the 30 (yes 30) NHL teams? Can anyone name all 30?

I would do well is this(hockey)but you will find Canadians feel the same when it comes to the NBA or even the NFL.I suspect it has to do with your suroundings.....I would probally rather watch curling then a NBA game, and I hate curling.

I think last year it was on network TV, this year and for years to come it is on VS(Versus) network. If I wasn't into hockey I would have never known it was on. Plus the skills competition was on played on Saturday. They should have advertised the game on broadcast channels.

I, unlike some people, still love Hockey and is the only other sport I like to watch on TV aside from Football. I did watch it.

Piece of cake. The challenge is naming all of the coaches and captains of each team.

Being a Yank, a Southern Redneck Yank at that, is not very conducive to growing up a hockey fan. I did and are though! Hockey is a close second to road-racing as my favorites sport to watch live or on TV. Football is the other sport I love to spectate. For me good seats at a hockey match are unreal. I attend about a dozen games each year and have sweet suite-passes for seven games this year. I got to watch an 8-4 crushing by the Senators last Thursday. That sucked! But it's the Sens. I also got to meet this unemployed guy last Feb in Alberta. Bastard Socialists took his sweater and threw it in the rafters!

He will always be an Oiler.
The Oilers - The greatest team to play the game.
The Oilers - The "Marauder" of hockey teams.

Derek, I suspect your probably crying right now after the game tonight.....How much again are they paying for Naslund?
If they keep up this way, my bookie is going to be very sad....
Maybe the Canucks would do better in one of the minor leagues?

I would if I was the only person who thought the that. I have spoken with fans of many different teams, and more people agree than not agree. Alot of players could be "Great" if allowed to play without receiving any contact, park behind the net or hang for a lead pass. I won't even mention the "gambling"
Before you say it, I know my seasons pretty much over. I think both our teams need a little help.

Well I would think amongst all hockey fans the overwhelming choice for best player ever would have to be Gretzky....and what's the matter with a few friendly wagers between sporting buddies?
I won't make any nasty comments about the Islanders...I like 'em and remember the 4 cups. Our teams are simply trying to give others a chance.

I gotta say, I like Alex Ovechkin, he is amazing with the puck. I can respect a great player who can also take a hit, and can give big hits.
Hockey today is very different from the 80's.
