Well here is my first car, I like it a lot, but it's kind of a soccer mom car, and it's definitely no marauder, but its a good car. It had a few problems when i got it, but it was from family so it was a good deal.

Here are a few pics i snapped today its a 2005 2.5 turbo AWD XC70. The car needs a wash, so i apologize for the dirt...

Tell us more about it. Not all of us are versed in foriegn vehicles. I have always liked Volvos and finally they have revamped their body styles and are nice on the eyes. Is it fun to drive, can you feel the turbo? Will take a stock Marauder? It sounds like you are having your cake and eating it too:D

^^^Haha, stock marauder... highly doubtful, but maybe I have never driven or rode in a marauder, But i'd bet they are about the same weight. The funny thing about these cars, is that like many volvo's they are only 5 cylinders... dunno why they couldnt just give me a 6 :( The Turbo is fairly weak sadly, and when you punch it you get some pretty terrible lag, but if you spool it up using the geartronic shifting you get some pretty good boost, and it sounds pretty sweet.

This thing is amazing in snow, we got a couple inches a couple weeks ago and i had an amazing time just blowing through it and the volvo was amazing, I took it up some very steep hills i wouldnt have even dared to try in many other cars...

I also like how high it sits, it can go over most standard curbs without scuffing the bottom at all. But i am thinking about lowering it, but like every part for this thing the springs are insanely expensive

It's a nice looking car. Yea, the newer Volvo's have some pretty weak Turbo's. Friend's Mom had an old S50 or something, 4 door sedan with a spoiler is all I remember, I also believe it was a 1.9l or something 4 cyl. You could hear the turbo, but it really didn't do anything. You should make it like this one.

Im sure when im your age I will be driving what i really want to, but for now this suits me fine. I wish i could have had a marauder, but i couldnt afford one, and sure i could have gotten a crown vic or something for what i paid, but this was a great deal, and i couldnt pass it up. The kbb on this thing right now is like 26

That is just sick! That thing spun its tires doing like 60! Talk about a sweet sleeper.

Yeah, the newer turbo's are stonger but not by much.... I think it has like 212 HP or something like that

i love Volvo Wagons. i know the older ones were highly underated and the turbos could easily be adjusted.

My boss' daughter has a 91Volvo 740 wagon with 500k miles on it, still running strong.

Yeah, I have never seen a worse POS than my first car. However, the memories were priceless.

Also, you keep telling us it was a good deal. How much did you pay because for 26K or so you could have almost any Marauder you find.

Even if he paid $20K, which would be far below KBB, he still could have bought a very nice Marauder instead had he "really" wanted one.

You are wise beyond your years. Yesteryear? I didn't get my first car until I was almost 18 and had been working for a couple years to pay for it. Then a stupid old lady totalled it a few months later before I finished paying for it. It was only a little ford escort, but I loved that thing!! I remember waking up after the accident and seeing a crack through the dash and saying "oh crap, my dash has a crack in it" I had no idea my car just made love to a telephone pole and an 86 buick:rolleyes: But I digress.............

Ah yes -- A Chrysler M-Body. The Chrysler M-Body (Fifth Avenue, Dodge Diplomat, Plymouth Gran Fury, Caravelle, et. al.) where to Chrysler in the 80's what the Panther was to Ford during the same time period. M-Bodies, with the correct suspension (read: Police Suspension) were fairly good in the corners.

I am a fan!

I still have fond Memories of our '78 LeBaron Wagon. Until the computer died and the car would do wierd things. Step on the gas nothing happens, take your foot off and away you go. Hit the gas and you go faster, take your foot off and hit the brake and you stop. Release the brake and you go no where fast. Sitting there you press the gas pedal lightly and drive away then it repeats itself randomly later. This was before OBD Ports and Hand Scanners...

Lean Burn!

Not so good in the beginning, many were torn off in frustration! -- By the late eighties, (especially on the Fifth Avenues) though, they had it working pretty good and could get 25 MPG out of an old-school V8 and carb.

We have had this car for a bit, my mom bought it in 2005. But it was her car until my dad ran it up on a huge rock busting the exhaust right through the rear drive shaft, he proceeded to drive it home, messing up the front one as well. We had some repairs done by volvo, and installed a stock exhaust and rear drive shaft in my class for her last year for her, because she told me she would give it to me once i got my license. I've have had for 4 months but she had still yet to buy a car, Im hoping she will finally get one in February.
