For those of you that hold this status (besides the owners)...

Can you explain why?

I really dont understand the reason behind it, nor why its even an option in the control panel.

I would answer your question, but I don't want anyone to know I'm on here.

I did it quite some time ago so that others would not see how often and how long I was logged in the site.

I was embarassed myself. :P

I'll change it back now that you mention it. ;)

I don't know. Way back in the beginning a group of people decided they should use the invisible option. Didn't Mac use it?

Probably to avoid being sniped.

intr.v. sniped, snip·ing, snipes
1. To shoot at individuals from a concealed place.
2. To shoot snipe.
3. To make malicious, underhand remarks or attacks.

And here I was getting ready to show you how to be invisible and all your talking about is an option for this board...

Because some people are so unattractive they do not want to see themselves!

I did it because I got irritated a few times and decided that I wanted to be logged on here and browse without anyone knowing I was around. Now, I'm back to normal because .... I dunno, I guess the novelty of it wore off? Or maybe I figured out that I wasn't really irritated and wasn't bothered.

I use it because there's no "I'm dead - leave me alone" feature.

Way back when, there was a user who would IM me every time he would see that I was online. Not for any particular reason - just to chat. I hate chat unless I need a specific question answered or can immediately help someone else.

But then again, I'm old and think text messaging is pretty stupid, too.

Okay look...I was trying to get you involved in Amway. It's a great home business and you could have been very successful. I get the message- you're not interested...FINE!

Yeah, I'm kidding- wasn't me.

Originally "Rogues Island".....a convenient place for England to store their misfits!!

Eventually became "Rhodes Island" then "Rhode Island".....at least that is what I was told by an old "Rhode Islander"!!

I really dont understand the reason behind it, nor why its even an option in the control panel

Because if we didnt have the privacy option, there would be numerous threads from members asking for one.
I dont know why someone would have to hide themselves, but if it makes them feel like they are undercover and spying on us, More power to them.
