Help Identify Please

Is this a Maverick, or a Comet? I caught this at a local traffic light, and it sounded awesome. I'm sure someone on here will know.

Is this a Maverick, or a Comet?
I'd say its close to a 1972 Mercury Comet GT \/\/\/\/\/. They didn't come with a 5.0 though back then. :rolleyes:

Thanks Bluerauder, I was told on another forum that it is definately a Comet. I guess it probably came with a 302, then modified later. From the way it sounded, I don't think the 5.0 badge was fibbing.

there was a V8 version of both, but they didn't come with a 5.0 badge.

The Maverick came with a 302 if you ordered a GT with the V8, all of them had hood scoops if I remember. My firend had one in Grabber Blue with white stripes from the factory. It had Ford center caps and beauty rings. It was a nice car.

Its a Comet. My brother had a white Comet GT with black decals on the hood, a spoiler and a 302. It was a pretty nice little car actually.

Thanks for everyone's help. I guess it's good that it turned out to be a Comet. That makes it more appropriate for this forum.
