When was AMC at the top of the Auto industry?

Why is MS paying $45bil for Yahoo which had $950 mil in sales.

I think the author is mostly full of BS. Spent very little time researching.

When has market share equalled profitability or viability?

Typical if USA Today, thats why I don't read it. People maga is more professional and accurate.

AMD and ford !!! NO!! i have more faith in ford pulling thru then AMD. i love amd but there products have just not cut it.. intel really did a number with their new chips and nearly KO's AMD. ATI which is now owned buy AMD is really lacking as well. nvidia is killing them with their video cards. it doesn't look good for ATI either. so sad...

AMD is going to do the same thing they always have done. Release a CPU that changes everything again and be right back in there, making money hand over fist.

Again.

That sux,

I work at a Call Center for Sears. I have been there for over 8 years and business is really bad. We went from 10 Call centers down to 6 now and they hired cheap crappy labor over in the Philipines. Normally we would hire every Xmas season, but this season, we were told not to hire. Things are not looking good for me.

I dont believe any of that. Just because some of those companies are in a slump dont mean they are going away.

I think it was someome on this forum that predicted Ford would become the truck division of Honda...the referenced AOL speculation hints at exactly said possibility.

I had an interesting Sears experience at Christmas. It was the first time I did Christmas shopping on line at Sears. It was not a good experience and I won't be doing that again. I did get my merchandise but it was painful and it was clear Sears on line was not up to the task of Christmas shopping.

Capitolism really works for the smart, guick and agile. It rewards innovation and adaptation and punishes those that cannot keep up. With our now global economy it is imperative to be first with the newest as we cannot compete in a copy cat world without continuous innovation. Anyone almost everywhere can make POS products and services at a tenth of costs here so we had better make our companies smarter and faster or we will all be standing on the sidelines. Just a thought. This is not intended to imply that I think any of the companies listed are POS companies, just that we need to change the paradygm where we work, no matter where that is. Dennis

I work for a company that makes threading machines for pipe, (big pipe) when they figure another way to move volumes of fluid I'll be in the same place. It's just another step for the rich to get rid of the middle class, we've always been a thorn in their side anyway, and they've always looked for ways to get rid of us. (the poor are so much easier to handle, and when they get to be middle class, they'll get rid of them, the never ending story). sorry about the rant.

I'm living this mess. I've been a mechanical engineer designing cell phones for MOT for the last 10+ years. Historically, (and still today IMO), we're a really good hardware company, but have had so many missteps in the past few years on the business & software side of things, we're self-destructing. Separating the Mobile Devices business from our current management structure may be just what we need, as long as it isn't sold to a Chinese mfr just looking for marketshare. That would spell the end for most MOT engineers.

Rich getting richer is a good thing though. The middle class has already caught up, in most places, to what the rich used to be like in the 80's, even more so.

It is the poor people who complain about the rich. They want what the rich have, it is called socialism. Some is good and most is bad. If everybody had the same amount of money, nobody would be driving a Marauder we would all still have K-cars. Not that it would be so bad, K-car are great. But then everyone would live in little houses and wear bad clothes and all watches would be timex and cameras would be polariods, people would have long hair and safety features in cars would be few if any... WAIT that sounds just like the seventies.
