View Full Version : Getting a 15" skinny on the front...

I spoke with Aerospace Components (http://www.aerospacecomponents.com/mustang_kits.htm) this morning about getting a racing kit for the Marauder. On their web site they list several drag racing packages that allow 15" rims to clear the calipers. The engineer asked if the spindle was the same from the Mustang as the Marauder. I said I don't know. He said they would need a spindle from the Marauder to make something work.

So my questions are:

Does anyone have access to both a Mustang and Marauder spindle to compare them for dimensions to see?

If not, where can I get a cheap spindle for a Marauder to send to them to get something made?

Since this is not Todd's components, I did not want to dirty his forum up. He is most wecome to come into this thread and lend a hand. I hope he does!

John, a junked GM or CV should be the same spindle from 03 and up when they changed the wheel offset. Verify with PoyLPita or TheDealer. If so, get a junked on and send it to 'em!

Thats really cool. Can't wait to see the video of your runs.

I think Jerry Barnes ran a skinny, maybe he can help.

Please report when you make your runs.

Get the damn car tuned so that it runs faster than the posted speed limit and then come back and ask these questions.

Something must be lost from the translation...you need more than a spindle to check for caliper clearance...which is where the main problem would be with clearance for 15" wheels.

They make complete kits to fit spindles.

At the World of Wheels I saw a Super Chiller intercooler on a 6-71.

Removing the S/C heat might facilitate unleashing all that hp.:banana2:

John's blower is water cooled.

Those were good times, JD!

Thanks for the BUMP to keep this thread up there. I still need to find out if the newer Mustangs (94+, any) have the same spindle dimensions as our Marauders.

Right now I have a pair of ZEX bottles in the trunk running Super Chiller duties. But you are correct, it would be cheaper in the long run to run an intercooler under it. I've put the pencil to the paper and figured if I switched to the cobra lower intake (minus the small intercooler and sealed up the extra holes), then an adapter for the 6-71 and then put the injectors above the blower with a BDS system that puts the injectors under the bugcatcher. Another $4500 but when you factor in two 10lb bottles @ $5/lb, it only takes 45 trips to the "crack house" and it is paid for.

I'll start with the "crack" and then save for the conversion.

The brand was "Super Chiller" and it looked like it was a plate between the blower and the intake.

Being a show car at a show I could not really get a good look. I assume it is some type of intercooler. I don't know if it works on "crack" or coolant.

When I saw it I immediately thought of you car and made a mental note to pass it on.

Thanks for the laugh about the "crack".

Yes, that was it...

That under the blower and this on top:

(minus the fuel pumps since I already have that covered)

I could get rid of the throttle bodies altogether and probably keep it at the same height out of the hood. With the cobra lower intake mod, I could save maybe 4".. I would have to relocate the alternator but it would be worth it.
