I'm considering purchasing a Painless wiring kit for my 65 Chevy because my current setup is just a mess. I've had 3 different opinions as to what to do. Painless is an option, but I would have to do it with a friend. My soon to be ex-friend said he could probably do it for a few hundred bucks and a pro came in a looked at it and said it would cost $1,500-$2,000 if I wanted it done right, but the price is negotiable... he'd even take a few guitars off my hands... think I'll stay away from this guy.

Painless seems like the easy out, but could someone who never did this before do it that easily? Lastly I was condsidering buying the shop and wiring book that are reprints from 1965 with the factory set up. What should I do here? :help:

Get the Painless kit.

Do it yourself.

Learn something in the process.

Buy headers for the MM and repair the wiring on the Chevy.

That's what I'd like to do, but I'm always 5 minutes late on finding used headers. :banghead:

They cost more and when you have 3 projects going you wanna be cheap... at least I do.

I have an 18 circuit kit in my shop that I was going to install on the 68 Fastback, but since I sold it, it may go on the Cougar.

The instructions are great and it looks simple enough to me.

I can personally garan-dam-tee you that there is absolutely no such thing as 'painless' wiring.

That sounds accurate to me! Although a '65 would be a lot less painful than something more modern.

OK, Rich it's "less painful" as all the wires are labeled for you... that's even more accurate!
