I need to paint my left rear door. I want to remove the trim from around the glass. Anyone done this yet? Tips and tricks are appreciated.

They are called 'Belt Moldings'
Piece lof cake.
Open door, remove one acorn nut inside door jamb.
carefully lift up on molding strip, beginning on end where nut was removed. It is held in mechanically here on out, by cuts in the aluminum strap that fits in slots in the door.
It is easier than it sounds, really. I replaced all mine, all the way around.

It is not a fun job.
First you have to remove to window glass ---
see attachment.
Second you have to remove small glass and window run---
see attachment.
It's easy from there I believe the upper chrome is riveted on, just drill them out.
Good Luck

Are the rivets standard aluminum or the big 1/4" rivets like for the window glass? I was hoping I wouldn't have to drill out anything but it still beats having tape lines. Always a sure sine of a re-paint. Thanks everyone.

Ur going to prolly have to repaint more than one door if the color repair is to big. Dont forget to blend.

As far as I can recall they are the standard aluminum most likely 1/8". It's been along time since I had seen one taken off.
