Pay the Ticket. It will be cheaper in the long run.... unless you are concerned about Points. Then, fight it.

Then get an Attorney, and fight it.
They should be able to at least remove the points.... you might have to take a defensive driving class though....

Sounds strange... 9 MPH over and he gave you a ticket?? Either he was a young "power trip weenie"... or you were a jerk... or you didn't sweet talk him... Whatever the case, it is odd that you even got stopped for 9 over... were you going with the flow of traffic?

I Was The Flow ...............and It Was 19 Over He Made It 9 Over
Surfer i know you and i already know youre going to take it to court and fight it. I hope you can at least get the points to come off.
What were you driving, the marauder or the truck?

I say take it to court...Calvert County not too bad on moving violations. How much is the tix? Court fees and bla bla bla may keep the tix around the same price but thhe points should be erased...thats what the judge did for me in PG...Good Luck SS03

Go to court. Don't fight it. Almost every time I've done that they treat it as a local offense and don't pass it on to the state, hence no points. I've had dozens of tickets over the past few years and my license has zero points. It costs pretty much the same as paying by mail, but keeps the points off. Downside is that it takes time.

I would fight it. I got a heavy fine/point ticket back in Oct due to a mix up from a silver Crown Vic that flew past me on the highway and I got the ticket for 97 in a 55mph zone ($530 and 5 points) when I was only going 70. 1.5 miles down the road I see the cop flying up behind me in the right hand land, it dodges left checks the two other cars in front of me and then comes back into the right lane and pulls me over. I told the officer about the silver Crown Vic and she said she only saw me lol. Didn't get a lawyer and just went to court, the cop ended up not showing up for court so I was found not guilty.

These "parking" tickets are pretty darned expensive.....
Plead Not Guilty, do not request deposition. Judge usually just makes you pay fine.... Town/city keeps the coin.

I got busted for 83 in a 50 Oct '06 and the officer told me not to send in the fine because the points would automatically be assessed but to go to court. I went to court Dec '06, plead guilty, and got probation before judgement, a very small fine plus court costs. Paid around $95 and walked out, that was it. Kept my nose clean all last year (in a 500rwhp car no less!) and now its cleared off my record, no points, no insurance hit, no additional fines.
How is your driving record? Might be worth it to go to court and take a chance.

Go to court and make sure no one shows up, but you and the judge. ;)

Don't do the crime if you can't do the time.
Drop your pants, bend over and take it like a man. Pay the damn fine and get it over with.

Pretty much right on the money. Public highway is no place to play!

This is exactly what to do. Have an excuse and pay it.
