Has anyone used one of the G meters for measuring acceleration, ect?
Are there signifcant differences between models and brands?
Does anyone have one they have used and reccomend?

I just bought the Gtech Pro Competition. Seems great so far, it is just off on the HP readings for the Marauder, although it nailed it right on when I put it on my new 2000 Victory V92sc bike. My stock car pulls a pretty consistent 15.4 with a 0" rollout setting. I like the way you can download the files to a computer. Also has a myriad of charts and graphs. Other than that, I can't really compare it to any others as it was the only one I knew of. I know Dennis is selling one now, might have bought his had I known earlier or at least done a comparison.

a "G-Tech" device. But It's not the "Pro" model. I've had it for atleast two years now, and I bought it from SummitRacing.com and it works great. I originally used it for my 73 Vette(which I turned a 13.48 ET w/and a 110MPH trap speed), and I turned a 15.2 ET w/my Marauder when it was bone stock and a 94MPH trap speed. I don't even use the thing for measuring G-force or HP because I'm very skeptical about those measurements. But I think it's right on the money when it comes to 0-60 times, ET's, and trap speeds. It registered the exact same times for my Marauder that a magazine recently published. And since I've already performed two different gear changes on my Marauder myself, and am even contemplating a third change, I like having this GPS device so that after I do those mods, I can then check out the results. I reduced the ET for my Marauder by installing the Reinhart chip, plugs, and stat, and installing Ford 4.10 gears. Now I've just finished installing 4.56 gears, and I can't wait to plug in the G-Tech GPS device agin to chech out the performance gain, cuz this time around I can actually feel the difference.

I've only heard great things about the G devices. I am thinking of purchasing one in the near future :)

w/all of the $$$ most of us here spend for mods, I think the device is well worth the $150(or something like that). The challenging part for me is finding a straight and long strip of road to use it on that doesn't have traffic on. I usually have to do that in the wee hours of the morning on a weekday(like 2:00am) when everyone else is off the road because they're sleeping:rolleyes: But what can I say? That's the performance nut in me;)
