I am applying for an EZ pass. The application says "windshields that contain metal in the glass(metal oxide) and windshields with solar ray glass, solar tint, heated or heat reflective windshields, and insulated or Insta-Clear glass may prevent the tag from being read properly. Customers with these windshields might need to obtain exterior tags." Do our windshields contain any of these? Do I need to get the special exterior tags?

I have had one in my MM since the first day I got it. No problem at all. Just mount it on the windshield 2" over to the right from where the rear view mirror is mounted and it will be fine. If you have your front window tinted then you would have to get an external tag attachment.

No problem with the Marauder.
EZ Pass offers a unit that mounts on the front license plate for states who have one.

These things record the times you entered and exited the freeway. If you get from point A to point B sooner than you should have, (i.e you were treating the speed limit as a recommendation only lol) will they mail you a ticket? Just curious.

No. No one at the RMV knows how to read a 24 hr clock, nor can add or subtract that many numbers.

Only toll roads I have seen that I have to get off the main road for were down in FL.
Other than that you want to do the posted speed limit at the tolls which is usually 10-15 mph. Some EZ toll lanes have a fast pass of 30mph. They usually give a 2-5mph grace but anything more is pushing it to get a fine from them. I had to launch through one because the car that was coming up behind me I felt was not slowing down faster enough and I went WOT to avoid being hit, they did in fact brake really late and locked their brakes up. I got a $50 fine for it but it was well worth it instead of paying my insurance deductible.
Well you should check, some MMs have tinted windows, while others have the crappy dot matrix, (2003 300A, 300B and on respectively)
But they have a list with the cars that have it and I don't remember seeing the MM on it, so I think you're clear
And lastly, I never used it on toll roads, just bridges going between boroughs in NYC, but I doubt they'd have the brain power to do the computations to ticket you.

I have the dot matrix on my windshield, doesn't cause a problem because it's mounted below it per the instructions that came with my EZpass.

That's correct the leave a paper trail.
Don't think you will receive summons.
They track the EZ pass on the Northern State Parkway on Long Island to give you travel times to certain main intersections.
I keep my tag in the glove compartment until I need it.

No! Just keep it an inch away from the mirror.

By law EZ pass CAN NOT be used to clock speed for the purpose of sending you a ticket later. I have used EZ internally to catch drivers in a lie on why they were late:)

They told me the same thing with needing an external tag. I've had the regular EZ-pass for 4+ years with the MM and have had no issues.

Ours lives in the console until it's needed. Has sucky feet on it for temp mounting if we wish.

You dont really have to have it mounted by the mirror, my dad has his EZ pass on the bottom right of the window, in his past 2 trucks and it works fine.
Only bad thing about the exterior one is, what keeps someone from stealing it?

If some person steals it then they are easily caught because E-Z pass records plate #'s so they would be pick up quick:)
