View Full Version : Zack's Famous Control Arms, Round 5
Interest has peaked once again and Id like to offer another run to the club.
My control arms are made of steel with CNC Ends and powdercoated gloss black. (You can buy them bare, for the same price)
These will be offered in stock length only, so you dont have to worry about the dreaded pinion angle.
What makes my design so good is the utilization of the stock rubber bushings.
By reusing the rubber bushings, the car will maintain a sedan like ride and the bushings will allow the suspension to flex a small amount during hard launches at the track.
I have always cut 1.60 60 foots or lower with these control arms. ;)
Directions are included and anyone with basic knowledge of tools can do this at home. If you know someone with a press, it will be a piece of cake!
Here are some pics:

These require NO maintenance after installing them, bolt on and go!
A lot of you are gonna ask, can I put a poly bushing in them? And my car has high mileage, i dont want to use my old bushings, where do I get new ones?
Answers: No poly bushing is available in this size that I know of.
-Ive swapped 100,000+ mile bushings into these control arms and the ride/performance is unaffected. You will see some normal rubber wear/cracking on the bushings but it is OK, trust me!
If you insist on getting new bushings, they are about 200 from Ford, and you will get stock control arms attached to them.
Metco owners, please dont come in and tell us how the ride is the same or how greasing your control arms is not an inconvenience, I really dont care.
My Trilogy car has Metco's and I can tell the difference :argue:
My builder will make at least 20 sets, but all I need is 10 confirmed orders to get them built.
Pricing is $455 shipped. If you live in Canada, its $470 cause I hate dealing with the whole process of shipping there. Paypal is accepted.
I ask that the comments be kept to VALID questions and committments only. Id like to keep this thread as small as possible so I dont have to go searching through it for interested parties.
Many thanks, as always!

Now Zack, you know you should do a poll. That way interested parties will be at the top and you won't neccesarily have to go wading through comments like this one.
For those who don't have them this is a great product.

ok, on topic, I have a set of C/A's from the first run,,and if you don't have a set,,,get one. The difference they make both seat of the pants and performance-wise is phenominal. best bang for the buck,,a NO-BRAINER

The control arms button up the rear-end as compared to the flimsy POS stock ones.
I rode the fence on these, and finally purchased and installed over a year ago.
The handling gains these control arms deliver is more than worth the price.
Combine these with Addco sway bars, and you have one helluva handling MM.

thats what i did, all at once i was amazed
If anyone buys a set of CA's from me, and has a set of stock bushings from a Metco owner, you can ship them to me ahead of time and I will install the bushings for FREE. Shipping will be adjusted 5 dollars higher for the added weight.
They will be ready to bolt right on out of the box!

Based on the Last run, it took 30 days from the time 10 were committed to the actual ship date

I'll have to wait until mine break. I've got to stop replacing things before they go bad.FastMerc saw one that broke on a S/C MM from FL at a local dealership when he was in for service. You don't realize how flimsy they are until you remove them.
Now, you guys are talking me into a rear sway bar to go with the CA's. I missed Dennis's Special this past weekend. Maybe he will have another sale before KY. Maybe a St. Patrick's Day Savin' O' the Green Sale (hint, hint!):D Or save us a little of our Easter eggs?

2" pipe end cap and 3-5 pound sledge will do it. It will become clear once you receive the instructions.
Or if you can't wait MM2004 did an excellent write-up on the install.

These are well worth every penny. I even noticed a .2 drop in the 1/4 mile time. The ride is still fine and they look like stock pieces from someone who doesn't know Marauders. ;) If you want something that will make your car handle better and take off better order a pair and say hello to going over double the speed limit on highway off ramps. :drive:
Not enough interest to justify another run yet :bigcry:

Zack, can you (or anyone else) answer: I've heard that if you take off the OEM units you're supposed to also change the bolts holding these in? Or is that just Ford trying to sell special bolts?
I really like the look of these. The quality is there, but I'm thinking it would be even better in a powder coated red...!

You dont need different bolts!
You can buy them bare if youd like and have them powdercoated to your liking.

You don't need toi buy any new parts and you can actually use your factory bushings. My only issue was getting the bolts loose, but once the bushings were out you just hammer them into the new control arms and it's done. Doesn't even take 30 minutes.

No biggie, I think this was doomed before the get-go.

So your Metco's don't work?
I cant compete with a CNC mill Rich, wish I could.
After boxes and shipping, I dont make very much.
In fact, my cost has gone up each time and Ive kept the price the same.

I can tell they are not rubber bushings, if thats what you are getting at.

I know, Zack..... just being a bit "cheeky" is all!
I bought the Metco's during a dry spell on availability of the Z&M arms, otherwise they'd be on my car.
Honestly though I don't mind the extra stiffness, makes me feel like I'm in a racecar! And my sheepskin seat covers absorb extra shock for me, too!
I'd love a set, but money is tight, and I'm saving for a tune next as I'm starting to really feel that complaints most people have on the trans.

Guys,
I put the Zack & Mac control arms on my Marauder during the first offering. They are great and change the pinion angle -2 degrees which is very good for hook up and day to day traction. I do not drag race, I track run my Marauder. These control arms are a great handling enhancer without negatively affecting ride quality.

Just to show that the OEMs are crap. 3lb rubber mallet and I wasn't even banging on them as hard as I really could have.

Me too. These weren't an option at the time, although I had heard good things about them, and I went with the Metco's, but am considering a bare set of these and powdercoating them red. Would look cool. The OEM's are just garbage. I just need to find $ somewhere!
The Metco's are very stiff as mentioned, but have worked for me pretty well, and are a good bang for the buck. I grease 'em once a year or so. I don't race, but on the corners the car is like it's on rails. There is no lean at all, and I can take corners flat that I never thought possible. With front and rear sway bars new control arms really tighten things up. I haven't got the watts link replaced. Not sure if I need to go that stiff back there. The Quickor rear bar is even stronger than the Addco, once I got the bushing problem solved, so I have plenty of lateral strength.
I can see how these here would still do a great job without the stiffer backend feel, and they are obviously well proven.
