Console Shifter Noise

I heard this noise the other day and thought it was my imagination, when I move thr shifter from park to drive or reverse I am getting a crunching noise, my Marauder has 23K on her, it almost sounds like plastic is grinding, it moves through the gears fine, there is no struggle to move the console shifter just that grinding sound, any help would be appreciated.

Check the shift cable.

Maybe something fell into the shifter mechanism.

Maybe some of the bushings are wearing out.

If something fell in there how do I get the plastic piece off that is in the console when you shift.
