Has anyone ever had a fog lamp explode, or shatter before? I just walked out into the garage and noticed it, no glass anywhere on the floor, so I guess it happened on the road. Aren't they supposed to be kind of pricey?

Most likely it was a rogue pebble that bounced its way to your fog light. You might have had the radio on and not noticed it. I could see how extreme thermal shock may render it broken, but I don't think it would just 'explode' on you like that. I duuno, maybe it would?

Mine are not clear anymore so either i need to see if they are sealed or if i can clean the insides of the lens. They are clear when new and that kind of stuff drives me crazy so if i cant clean them ill have to buy em. I hate to see what that will set me back. New Floor mats last week were expensive.

Had dealer replace one last year for about $50 total. They have a lift and I would have get down and roll on the ground to replace the bulb. Nahh..not at my age. They would need a crane to get me up.

They are sealed, but can be separated.

Thanks guys! I didn't bother to see if mine still works. I appreciate all the help. Will probably make a trip to the dealer soon and get another one, cause I just can't stand having stuff broke.

I lost one to an oversized raccoon. I smacked him doing about 55 and he bounced around inside the fender for a second and ripped the whole light out. I had to replace the whole fixture and tap new holes into the bumper where it was mounted because it ripped the screws out and all. Not cheap either.

Natehawk told me to tell you to PM Ray the dealer...SN "the dealer." Hopefully he can save you a penny or two instead of going to the dealer...

I appreciate that. I really wasn't looking for a bargain, but more just trying to get an idea what I was looking at price wise. I don't want to bother anyone with shipping etc. If it was a bigger item, I'd certainly take you up on that and contact "the dealer". I do thank you for your efforts though.

Ok guys, help me out here. I just returned from my local dealer, and they are telling me that you can't just replace the lamp. You have to replace the entire sub-assembly. They want $134 to do that. That doesn't sound right to me. It sounds like you guys are talking as though you are able to replace the lamp only. . . . right?????

What you actually need to replace, and how FORD sells it are usually two different things. Most if not all lamps are sold as assemblies.

THats what I had to do. Replaced the whole assembly. I had the old one but the lamp itself was brroken. So I had to buy a whole new one. Thats about the price I paid as well.

I had to replace one last year but can't remeber how much it cost. The lens was shattered.
