I still have the stock pads on, and when I put the winter tires on, I noticed they were wearing down. On the drive into work this morning, I noticed the brake light come on, under semi-hard braking... No leaks, so I'm not losing brake fluid, I guess it's getting low, because the pads are worn...

I can get a deal on pads, but it ends today... Should I go with Hawk HPS, or Akebono Pro-ACT pads? I have Hawks on the Lighting, and really like them (though they can be a bit dusty). I've heard good things about the Akebonos, but don't have any first hand experience. The Akebonos are $60 less (for a set of 4), but I'm fine paying more, if they're not as good as the Hawk pads...

Any firsthand experience, with either set? I will be making the purchase this afternoon, so any insight would be appreciated.

Akebono ceramic are EXCELLENT! I had them on the MM from 13K to 60K. Excellent, quiet low dust. Good stoppers. Due to immediate need and difficulty finding Akebono again. I went with NAPA Ceramix. They have been as good as the Akebonos

That's a great price on them as well.

Hawks! They are dusty 'cause the work. I have hever liked any cermic compound pad - they don't dust but they don't stop as well as the carbon fiber/metalic linings do. The Hawk carbon/metalic is the pad on my car now and these are the best! These are the third set I've installed on my car.

Yeah - the only real difference is how much dust/dirt you can tolerate.
They are all good pads!

Thanks all for the input... I ended up going with a set of four Akebono Pro-ACT pads. Including the 13% sales tax, they were $130, versus almost $200 for the Hawks. I just didn't think I couldn't justify the price difference, between the two.

Hopefully they'll be here next week, and I'll install before the end of the month...
