In Calgary besides our Stampede grounds and a couple odd looking buildings, our most unique feature is our Plus 15 system.
It is a series of walkways 15 feet off the ground, some are 30 feet up, that link building and have dedicated corridors linking them together. In some areas apartments are linked to the rest of the city centre and you can walk in your house coat/robe and slippers and go down into the city without ever having to go outside.
Not everything is linked yet, but here is a map:
http://www.calgary.ca/docgallery/BU/engineering_services/emaps/plus_15_network_map.pdf
also made famous, sort of, in the Movie "Way Downtown"
Focuses on four friends who live and work in a large city that is connected by glassed-in walkways. They bet a month’s salary to
see who can stay inside the longest. Directed by Gary Burns, Comedy. 2000. 82 minutes.

Largest Shopping Mall, at one time in the World, now just in North America (but we'll be back!) One lap of 1 floor is a half marathon.
Largest urban park system in the world is in progress. It used to be Stanley Park in Vancouver, but the Old Man River park system overtook it. Edmonton's is 7400 hectares (21X NY's Central Park) and will be over 60,000 hectares when finished.

The 15+ system is very interesting concept. Will have to read up a little more on that. Might be worth considering in places like downtown Baltimore, DC and Philadephia.
My hometown offers the following:
1. 25 miles south of Washington, DC. Close to the seat of government and all of the entertainment venues; but far enough away not to be in it.
2. Dead smack in the center of a 75 mile circle containing many of the Civil War's most famous battlefields .... Manassas/Bull Run I and II, Fredericksburg, Spotsylvania, Wilderness, Chancellorsville, Brandy Station, New Market, Sharpsburg/Antietam, Gettysburg, Richmond, and Petersburg.
3. Only 3 miles from a minor league baseball stadium (Potomac Nationals - Class A affiliate of the Washington Nationals).
4. Lots of local, state, regional and national parks to enjoy. Excellent county operated sports facilities for swimming, baseball, softball, tennis, soccer, etc. Boating on the Potomac. Fishing on the Occoquan.
5. Historic towns of Manassas and Occoquan nearby.

Greenville's economy was formerly based largely on textile manufacturing, and the city was once known as "The Textile Capital of the World." In the last few decades, low wages and favorable tax benefits have lured foreign companies to invest heavily in the area. The city is the North American headquarters for Michelin and is home to the manufacturing arm of BMW in the US. Recently, the International Center for Automotive Research (ICAR) has been created by a consortium including Clemson University, BMW, Timken, IBM, Microsoft, Michelin, and the Society of Automotive Engineers International (SAE).
Greenville County also has one of the strongest concentrations of engineers per capita in the country. The aea is now known nationally as one of the main engineering hubs in the Southeast.
Perhaps of greatest significance, Greenville is home to two outstanding microbrewies: Thomas Creek Brewery and the Blue Ridge Brewing Company, the latter home of what is arguably the world's finest hefeweissen.

Police said two men held up a man on International Drive.
Armed robbers took gas money from a tourist at 1:30 a.m.
Police said the men got out of their SUV in front of an International Drive hotel and held a tourist from Korea, demanding his cell phone and money for gas.
But, their SUV stopped short of the nearest gas station because they ran out of gas.
The two men were taken into custody.

No, it was before I went to work for him.
Every car he bought went straight from the dealer to the tire place to have Michelins put on. Same with every car the company bought.
One of his partners was an engineer and toured the plant. He had to sign a secrecy agreement. He said a lot was done by hand.
Michelin said they would have a 10 year lead on the domestic mfg and they were right, after 10 years the domestics caught up.
For years it was the largest single account for the company he worked for, including after my fathers departure.

We have a few other things in Calgary. We have a lake on one side of town, it is also our drinking water reservior, and a pretty big damn. Well pretty big for something in a city.
We have two boats that are motorized that cruise on the lake, one is an old fashion paddle wheeler and the other a rescue motor boat. Other than that the only ohter boats have no engines, sail boats, row boats (olympic types) and those big multiperson canoes.
The Paddle wheeler gives rides and is part of the historical village that is in the city. Everything is old fashioned, and the people who work there all wear historical clothes. Do things the old fashion way etc... There is even a steam train that gives rides or gets you across the park. It is called Heritage park, really descriptive name. They make the best rootbeer candy there and sell real liquorice root. http://www.heritagepark.ca/home.htm
Even have staged gun fights ever once in a while.
The other historic thing we have is the Calgary Stampede. aka the Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth. It is a 10 day city wide party with a focused amusement park and one of, if not the largest rodeo in the world. Chuck wagon races, etc... Concerts every night, beer gardens and lots and lots of booze!!! Million plus vistors to the park each year. http://calgarystampede.com/

Do you know a shopping center in"Berwin" that has a 30' "needle in the parking lot with cars stacked on it?" I was there years ago, there were a bunch of "Rube Goldberg" games on the sidewalk in front of the stores, that you could operate, it was really cool!

St. Louis...
The Arch. Two REAAAAAALLLLLLY cruddy looking rivers. Four bridges over one of 'em, and one of those in such lousy condition that it's closed. Potholes big enough to eat a Marauder whole. AND an average of no less than two major pileups on I-270 per day.
Good weather in St. Louis is like sex in the champagne room...fughetaboutit. We've spent the last three months straight getting pummeled by the worst weather known to man this side of Siberia.

Well, if we're going to get that granular - I'm in the same situation. I live 2 miles from a small city, 40k (20 miles) from Edmonton. My nearest neighbour raises horses, buffalo and llamas (and one donkey - guess why). (quite eclectic!). Often, I hear coyotes howling, from inside my yard. Up to 20 of them at a time, and it scares my dog quite badly.
I don't always lock my door, but I have had my Marauder vandalized. !!

I hear the coyotes howl in the park, Big Park, have the deer in my front or backyard 10 times a year. Had a bobcat sitting on my front steps a few years back. Cougar and bears frequently just down the hill, 3 minute walk.
I lay in bed and listen to the howling, look out and see the Doe and her three little fawns hiding under my trees.
I live in Calgary, unlike Chad who lives nearby.
I can also stand in my basement and do the 360 twirl and know I own all I see.
